Assistant Controller

- Determine how to recognize revenue for new products we launch.
- Design methodologies to recognize estimated breakage based on redemption patterns.
- Build policies and procedures to capitalize internally developed software in a way that our Software Developers can support.
- Automate and improve technology to simplify accounting processes.
As the Assistant Controller at Tango Card, in addition to the cool projects listed above, your responsibilities are to:
- Be responsible for the monthly financial close process, which includes activities such as
- Owning the GL and recording of all business transactions, including detailed analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Ensuring compliance with US GAAP, local accounting requirements, and internal policies
- Lead, support, and develop the corporate accounting team while driving efficiency & automation to keep up with the demands of our high-growth business
- Research and implement new and existing GAAP standards
- Drive process changes that streamline the close process, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Act as the primary liaison for our Mexico subsidiary third party accounting firm
- Prepare reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and entering adjusting journal entries as needed
- Build and maintain NetSuite custom reports for financial statement generation and review in accordance with GAAP
- Assist in annual external audit preparation and oversight
- Conduct financial analysis as assigned
- Take on other duties as assigned
To be effective in our Assistant Controller role, you must have the following skills and experience:
- CPA license
- 5+ years experience in accounting roles
- 2+ years of Public Accounting, preferably at one of the Big Four accounting firms
- Knowledge of GAAP including research and implementation
- Experience in ERP systems and report writing within those systems
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
- Extensive skills in Excel
Our ideal Assistant Controller at Tango Card will have most of the following skills and experience:
- Excellent organization, project management, and time leadership skills. You should have a keen eye for patterns and detail.
- Experience with multi-subsidiary, multinational companies, and foreign currencies
