Blue Nile is looking for a passionate and talented Controller who will lead a 20+ person team within the Accounting, Tax and Treasury functions of a dynamic Finance organization. We’re looking for a candidate who is highly detail-oriented, who possesses exceptional organization and communication skills, and has a passion for our business.

Responsibilities:

• Oversight of the responsibilities of a team of operational accountants, such as the monthly close and consolidation processes, operational implementation of new accounting standards, determination of the financial statement impact of business events, vendor payments, customer receipts, payroll processing, financial analyses, and accounting for share-based compensation, fixed assets and leases;
• Oversight of the treasury and financial risk management function which includes cash/investment management, debt compliance, hedging of interest rate risk, managing FX and insurance risk;
• Oversight of the financial reporting team’s responsibilities, such as the preparation of audited financial statements, coordination of the external financial statement audits including those prepared for statutory purposes, technical accounting research and documentation, preparation of financial reporting packets, and internal control compliance;
• Oversight of the tax function’s responsibilities which includes accounting and compliance work related to corporate income taxes, sales and use taxes, property taxes, B&O taxes, and indirect taxes
• Support the CFO and General Counsel in various corporate governance and fiduciary responsibilities such as board communications/presentations, lender call preparation including drafting lender scripts, sponsor presentations, 401(k) investment and risk management oversight, enterprise risk management assessment, and subsidiary board meetings;
• Establishment of accounting policies and financial processes; and
• Management of the Finance department’s budget and cost structure.

Qualifications: 

• 10+ years of experience in the Accounting or relevant field with a mix of public accounting and private company experience strongly preferred
• 5+ years of supervisory experience required preferably overseeing a comparably sized team
• CPA required
• High level of technical accounting proficiency
• Ability to interact professionally across all departments within the organization
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Oracle or similar ERP system preferred
