The Challenge / About the Role
The Corporate Development Deal Lead will lead cross functional deal teams in evaluating and leading end-to-end deal execution. You will be the “Deal Lead” for all elements of the M&A process: partnering closely with the C-Suite, key product and sales leaders in exploring inorganic expansion strategies, developing and presenting acquisition business cases, leading due diligence, preparing and presenting analyses of acquisition targets, formulating deal structures, negotiating terms, planning integration and collaborating with functional leaders to integrate the acquired businesses.
This highly visible role will report to the Head of Corporate Development & Strategy and be part of a small team that is responsible to drives a key area of growth for Qualtrics. The ideal candidate will be an independent thinker and excellent problem solver with a data driven mind set, have a bias towards action, and have outstanding communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage corporate development activities including sourcing, evaluating, and executing strategic acquisitions.
- Partner with product and sales leaders to identify and prioritize product gaps, evaluate build/buy/partner options and collaborate on target selection and recommendations.
- Conduct analyses of quantitative, financial, and qualitative data in support of deal activities, incorporate insights and recommendations into comprehensive business cases.
- Coordinate and lead transaction due diligence efforts across Qualtrics and support interactions between internal Qualtrics team members with external constituents during transaction execution.
- Negotiate key legal documents and bring transactions over the finish line.
- Establish a robust understanding of industry trends, emerging companies, and competitive knowledge in the experiment management and enterprise software markets.
- Mentor and train junior team members within the broader Strategy & Corporate Development organization.
- Proactively look for ways to enhance group practices and processes that will enable Qualtrics to continue to build out our corporate development competency.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a top tier school; MBA or other advanced degrees are a plus.
- 7+ years of relevant work experience, including corporate development, investment banking, private equity, venture capital or strategy consulting.
- Experience analyzing a wide variety of M&A transactions and managing complex processes from start to finish.
- Strong understanding of key software / SaaS business metrics and KPIs, e.g., ACV / TCV, billings/bookings to revenue conversion, expansion rates, etc.
- History of successfully completing high level negotiations.
- Ability to drive projects cross-functionally, synthesize feedback, and develop consensus.
