The Job: 


As Director of Financial Planning and Analysis you will have the opportunity to lead and build a high-impact FP&A team, while also working hands-on to deliver business insights to the organization. Reporting to the CFO, the successful candidate will be joining a collaborative, high-growth company and will leverage their proven FP&A experience to build upon existing processes as the company scales. This is a critical and highly visible role, requiring an ability to develop strong working partnerships with senior business leaders, as well as developing and mentoring a team. Attention to detail, sharp analytical skills, high integrity, willingness to roll up your sleeves, and the desire to continue to build a successful company are must haves.


Reports to: Chief Financial Officer

Location: This position is located in Seattle, Washington

As a Director of FP&A at Tango Card, you will:

  • Implement and improve financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes; monitor and communicate progress toward achievement of financial objectives
  • Actively partner with leadership team and other business leaders to provide insights, identify risks and opportunities, inform decision-making, and drive strategy
  • Support long-term planning with a three-statement financial model based on business metrics and the strategic plan
  • Select and implement software to manage budgets and forecasts
  • Partner with the Accounting team to prepare timely and accurate financial statements
  • Create crisp and insightful analysis of financial results and present to the board of directors
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team consistent with our company values
  • Manage frequent ad hoc projects

To be effective in our Director of FP&A role, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive experience related to FP&A, corporate development, financial modeling, analysis or strategy, including managing the financial planning process across a company
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to translate financial analytics into clear and insightful recommendations, and to tell the story beyond the numbers
  • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of building, leading and inspiring high-performing teams
  • Attention to detail, a strong ownership-ethic and a focus on accuracy and accountability
  • Great financial modeling, analytical, problem solving and system skills

Our ideal Director of FP&A at Tango Card will also have most of the following skills and experience:

  • MBA or CFA designation
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience leading Financial Planning & Analysis teams, with experience in both start-ups and larger firms
  • Experience managing the implementation of financial planning or other software tools
  • Experience in FinTech industry
  • Experience with modeling complex balance sheets
