The Director of Revenue will be responsible for all accounting-related matters in the Order to Cash cycle and will report to the Controller. This role will oversee billing, accounts receivable, collections, and revenue recognition matters at Outreach. This person will partner with our Sales, Customer Success, Professional Services, Revenue Operations and Deal Desk functions to understand our business objectives for subscription, voice and professional services revenue streams and provide solutions to ensure our revenue recognition is optimized and in compliance with U.S. GAAP under ASC 606 and internal accounting and internal controls policies. The Revenue Director will manage, develop, and build out a team with Outreach’s continued growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee revenue accounting operations as a key stakeholder in the Order to Cash cycle.
  • Develop and maintain strong and collaborative working relationships with key business leaders to ensure ongoing and constant communication in understanding business updates and to provide revenue recognition compliant solutions for new initiatives.
  • Maintain and enforce Outreach’s revenue policies and/guidelines around existing and future 
  • Implement and adhere to SOX internal controls for the OTC and Revenue Accounting cycles 
  • Partner with key business leaders to develop various controls around data management, systems, and reporting requirements.
  • Influence deal structure to reduce revenue recognition adjustments while supporting overall business objectives
  • Review revenue contracts and document revenue recognition treatment and issues in accordance with ASC 606 and internal revenue policies 
  • Perform and review regular SSP evaluation to ensure compliance with 606 and limit revenue adjustments 
  • Assess customer life and deferred contract costs under ASC 606
  • Book journal entries, reconcile all revenue-related accounts, analyze all variances in revenue accounts and report to management as part of month end close process 
  • Participate in revenue forecasting
  • Lead, grow, and develop existing team to support Accounting specific requirements as well as the overall growth of the company.
  • Perform and review month end close procedures including journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis 
  • Identify areas to implement systems automation to scale the business’ growth and reduce risk
  • Work with external auditors to address any audit concerns 
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure efficiency of all revenue streams and report to senior management 
  • Mentor and develop team, including setting regular goals and objectives and measuring performance against such goals

Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Finance / Accounting
  • SaaS experience required
  • CPA license required
  • Minimum of 8 years progressive financial and accounting experience
  • Minimum of 3 years Big 4 public accounting experience required
  • Minimum of 4 years leading revenue teams and dealing with various revenue systems; public company experience preferred
  • Experience with and strong understanding of US GAAP and ASC 606 
  • Experience with Zuora, Salesforce and High Radius preferred
