Finance Manager - Business Development (Location Flexible)
Role Description
As a Finance Manager supporting our Business Development team, you will play a crucial role in areas such as planning and forecasting, conducting strategic investment reviews, measuring the success of strategic initiatives, and evaluating resource investments. Your work will help ensure Dropbox makes sound financial and strategic decisions that drive sustainable business growth. You’ll get substantial senior leadership exposure, focusing real-time on the highest priority business issues, and being plugged into every facet of our business.
Responsibilities
- Partner closely with Business Development leaders to drive successful outcomes for a range of partneship opportunities, including product and geographical expansion.
- Leverage your financial expertise to support and influence key strategic decisions. You will support negotiations with key financial partners by sizing the impact of commercial terms and evaluating the strategic considerations for all other terms.
- Develop and monitor critical success and business performance metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in weekly meetings with Business Development leadership team, providing both KPI and financial updates to keep the organization on track to targets
- Support strategic and financial planning processes for your teams (e.g., Monthly Reviews, Annual Budget, and Long Range Plan) for revenue, operating expenses, and headcount.
- Build and run SQL queries to uncover novel insights and influence decision-making by presenting those insights in a clear and concise way
- Bring a collaborative, hands-on approach to your work, developing open communications and productive work relationships with your stakeholders
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive experience in a high-growth company or consulting firm, ideally more recent experience in strategic or operational finance functions at a high-growth tech company. Demonstrated understanding of a SaaS business model strongly preferred.
- Intellectual curiosity with the ability to translate complex business problems into structured data solutions.
- Ability to define a business problem, collate the required information, analyze the results, and create a compelling argument for solution.
- Advanced modeling skills with the ability to build and own driver-based models used to quickly and effectively translate ambiguous data into succinct outputs.
- Exceptional business judgment; capable of getting results with a focused, pragmatic approach
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to guide and influence senior leadership
- A proven ability to build collaborative working relationships with business partners
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field required, MBA preferred
