Ookla is looking for a Financial Analyst Manager to lead the finance operations focusing on organic growth, investment in new business, and growth through acquisitions. Responsibilities will include financial modeling, budgeting and forecasting, and assisting in the monthly accounting close. With minimal oversight, the Analyst will take a front seat approach to designing reports that inform management on key performance indicators, “KPIs”, and support strategic decision-making. This position offers a unique opportunity to sit within a business, reporting in to both the General Manager of the business and the SVP, FP&A, and offers unparalleled access to the managers and senior management team.

Responsibilities:

  • Embed him/herself into the business such that he/she understands the day-to-day operations, drivers, people as well as sales process and environment. The successful candidate will always know the financial forecast for the division and be ready with weekly sales pacing forecast data.
  • Actively participate (and contribute to) the monthly accounting close
  • Provide budget versus actual variance explanations and other corporate reporting requirements
  • Assist in planning and delivering annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Respond to accounting and financial inquiries by researching and interpreting business unit and departmental financial data
  • During month-end close, partner with sales and operations to ensure the Company properly recognizes revenue
  • Design and prepare key performance indicators to enable better visibility of business operations by management
  • Create sales pacing reports and ad hoc reporting, as needed
  • Prepare, review and analyze sales incentive payments, statements and supporting reports
  • Creation of revenue and cost models to help managers make business decisions on new initiative

  • Be able to pivot and reprioritize workload to best support his or her GM and department.
  • Become a trusted partner to the General Manager and sales organization within the BU to ensure that forecasts, pacing’s, and analyses most accurately reflect the business.
  • Have an active interest in the industry, competition, and market.
  • Always know their number – where the business will come in for the month and quarter.
  • Teach who to call for questions and never be afraid to pick up the phone.
  • Work independently and proactively manage one’s time

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3+ years working in Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Graduated from a two-year Investment Banking Analyst or equivalent financial analyst training program
  • Exceptional modeling and forecasting ability
  • Expert in Excel and other Microsoft Office software
  • Pride in accuracy and attention to detail
  • Willing to work hard until we get it right
  • High level of organizational skills, despite changing inputs and priorities
  • Experience with financial accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Adaptive Insights, Oracle) is a plus
