Position Summary:
As an Operational Accountant, you will be a vital member of the Trupanion FinOps team, primarily focused on supporting our Accounts Payable operations through this period of unprecedented growth. This is an amazing opportunity to join a quickly developing team and make an immediate impact on the business. This job requires physically being in our Seattle Office, and all team members entering the Office are required to be vaccinated.
Key Responsibilities Include:
As the Operational Accountant you will support the FinOps team in the following areas:

  • Provide ancillary and backup support to the Trupanion AP team across all functions.
  • Partner in supporting continuous improvements in execution across all operational processes including, vendor management, cash forecasting, payments, etc.
  • Assist in the implementation of new solutions and processes to support Trupanion's 1099 and Unclaimed Property reporting.
  • Follow internal controls for job duties according to SOX narratives.
  • Promote basic accounting principles and support the Finance team in monthly accounting close process.
  • Support Finance team in meeting internal and external reporting timelines by preparing deliverables for reporting team, FP&A, and external tax and audit professionals as requested.
  • Communicate optimally with the finance team as well as others throughout the organization for matters relating to role and responsibilities.


Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting preferred


Experience:

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience; public company experience a plus


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred, but not required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail are a must
  • Consistent record of thinking critically and tackling problems in the workplace
  • Strong written and verbal communication demonstrated throughout all levels of the organization
  • Capable of researching issues independently
  • Proven ability to work well in a team environment and achieve results through influencing and holding team members accountable
