About the Role:

Our team fully embraces the company motto… “great people do great things.”  As part of that, we are looking for a Payroll Accountant with a strong track record of success to join a growing Finance team.  The role will be responsible for providing direct employee payroll support, processing and executing semi-monthly payroll batches, reconciling and accounting, employee expense reimbursements, and taking on other payroll duties as assigned.  This position reports to the Controller and is located in Seattle, WA. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain semi-monthly payroll for 500+ employees (and growing)
  • Work closely with HR to document payroll changes and updates for each batch
  • Review payroll audit reports and process adjustments as necessary
  • Directly assist employees and managers in payroll-related efforts acting as primary point of contact for payroll questions or issues
  • Reconcile payroll reports and general ledger accounts
  • Review benefit invoices for accuracy and reconcile related payroll deductions monthly
  • Prepare journal entries related to payroll and benefit activities
  • Ensure best practices on payroll processing, payroll accounting and relevant internal controls
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information with the highest degree of integrity and privacy
  • Assist HR with researching new payroll laws or regulations
  • Keep apprised of federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance
  • Own and manage the process for employee expense reimbursements

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years direct payroll experience, preferred in high-growth or high-volume environment
  • Solid understanding of local, state and federal payroll and tax laws
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with individuals inside and outside PitchBook in a way consistent with our values and commitment to service
  • Direct, approachable and clear written and verbal communicator
  • Exceptional attention to detail with high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, demonstrate good personal judgment, and effectively handle tasks under pressure
  • Flexibility in handling workload fluctuations and multiple requests
  • Acute understanding of confidentiality and access to sensitive information
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office
  • Experience processing and reviewing employee expense reimbursements
  • Experience with ADP, Workday and Concur Expense a plus
