The Role

We're searching for a Sr. Accounting Manager to join Remitly’s Finance team, reporting to our VP, Corporate Controller. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated manager with a bias for action who is excited by the opportunity to make a big impact in a fast-paced and dynamically growing company.

What You’ll Do

• Manage the operational accounting team
• Prepare and/or review internal and external financial reporting deliverables
• Technical accounting research and documentation
• Review and approval of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and document variance analyses
• Review and approve disbursements;
• Review and approve payroll
• Work with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, drive process improvements, system enhancements, and implement best practices.
• Serve as the primary liaison for the financial statement and compliance audits.
• Assist with:

• Managing the month-end close process; 
• Equity administration; 
• Review of tax filings; and
• Managing the procure to pay process.

• Ensure that there are appropriate controls in place which are consistently applied to mitigate financial statement risks.

Who You Are

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or finance and 8+ years of professional experience in an accounting or similar role. 
• Minimum three years of managerial experience preferred. 
• Strong technical accounting background.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Mix of public accounting and private industry experience highly preferred.
• Self-starter with a knack for streamlining processes; eager to learn, ability to be flexible in a constantly changing and growing business.
• Great attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
