Senior Accounting Manager

About the Role:
We're searching for a Sr. Accounting Manager to join Remitly's Finance team, reporting to our VP, Corporate Controller.
You Will:
- Manage the operational accounting team;
- Manage the month-end close process for the operational accounting program;
- Approval of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations;
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of non-order to cash accounts including - cash and cash equivalents, prepaid expenses and other assets, fixed assets, accounts payable, accrued expenses and other liabilities, leases, operating expenses, stock-based compensation expense, other income/expense;
- Analyze GL accounts and financial statement line item trends and variances to expected outcomes;
- Approve disbursements;
- Approve payroll;
- Support business initiatives, drive process improvements, system enhancements, and implement best practices;
- Help with tax compliance, managing the payroll process, managing the procure to pay process; equity administration, and technical accounting research and documentation.
- Be a backup for various responsibilities including: tax compliance and reporting and elimination and consolidation including transfer pricing calculations.
- Ensure that there are appropriate controls that mitigate financial statement risks.
- Establish accounting policies and leading practices to adapt to changes in our business and to ensure U.S. GAAP compliance.
- Collaborate with financial planning & analysis team on reporting efforts and monthly accruals related to budgeting and forecasting
You Have:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or finance and 7+ years of professional experience in an accounting or similar role.
- At least three years of managerial experience.
- A strong technical accounting background.
- An active CPA license.
- A mix of public accounting and private industry experience.
- Experience with streamlining processes..
- A comprehensive understanding and prior experience with design and implementation of accounting policies and procedures
