Expedia Group has an exciting opportunity to join its Global Tax Reporting Team as a Senior Analyst – U.S. Tax Reporting. The Global Tax Reporting Team is part of the broader tax department and corporate finance at Expedia Group. Our team of tax enthusiasts is responsible for the global tax provision, U.S. income tax reporting (federal, state, and U.S. international reporting), tax controversy, mergers and acquisitions support, and special projects.
What you’ll do:
In this role, you will prepare the domestic tax provision. You will work closely with the Global Tax Provision Team to support the global reporting process and ensure accuracy of domestic tax accounting positions. You will assist with the U.S. tax reporting process by preparing federal and state workpapers and income tax returns. This role will also assist with tax controversy by responding to tax jurisdiction requests.
You will need to collaborate effectively across tax subject areas and the wider company matrix to reinforce protocols for tax-related work executed outside of the tax department, including documentation and management of roles and responsibilities, scope, process, and sign-off.
The specific responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Financial Reporting
Primary preparer of the domestic components of the income tax provision, including:
Supporting book-tax adjustment workpapers
Current provision
Deferred provision
Deferred tax asset / liability rollforward
Return to provision adjustments
Tax Compliance
Prepare audit-ready supporting workpapers in accordance the team’s documentation standards
Prepare federal income tax returns (Form 1120 - U.S. Corporation Income Tax Return and Form 1065 – U.S. Return of Partnership Income)
Prepare separate and unitary state income tax returns
Controversy – Respond to IRS income tax audit requests and assist the Senior Manager with audit management
Technical – Legislative analysis and support
M&A – Support mergers, acquisitions, reorganization, and business initiatives
Technology and Automation – Support the evolution of tax technology tools and technology enhancements
Controls and Process Transformation – Maintain and prepare process documentation and support ongoing process transformation while ensuring adherence to controls and policies
Who you are:
You hold a Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) and/or Master’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline
CPA license preferred
At least 3+ years of public accounting experience in ASC 740 with one of the "Big Four" firms or equivalent experience
Comprehensive technical skills in general accounting principles, ASC 740, and federal and state income tax concepts
Tax provision and compliance software experience, preferably Corptax
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Strong aptitude for identifying and implementing process improvements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong tax research skills
Organized and attentive to detail
Works well independently and in a team environment
Self-starter and diligent problem solver
