About the Role
The Senior Accounting Manager, Technical Topics is a key leadership position within the VP of Finance's organization, responsible for designing and implementing end-to-end accounting solutions for the adoption of new accounting guidance at Highspot, while ensuring the solutions are U.S. GAAP and IFRS compliant. This role reports to the Senior Director of Accounting and leads a team of individual contributors. This position will collaborate across the business, including sales, marketing, product management, growth operations, IT, legal, facilities, project management, as well as accounting operational teams.

 

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in technical accounting, process and control frameworks with problem solving abilities and a track record of successfully implementing accounting and finance processes for new business initiatives. The successful candidate will represent the Accounting organization on certain enterprise projects and lead the design of accounting solutions for new revenue streams and product strategy changes, including policy assessments. The candidate should feel confident discussing and negotiating accounting requirements, risks and implications in cross functional meetings, collaborating with a large group of stakeholders and working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide leadership in alignment with the overall department and corporate objectives. Hire, coach, train and lead a high caliber and diverse team of professional accountants.
  • Manage the monthly financial close processes for a variety of technical topics, such as revenue recognition, order and billing operations, and the customer lifecycle. Ensure changes in business operations are accurately captured in the financial results of Highspot.
  • Maintain knowledge of current accounting standards and reporting requirements to ensure proper application in Highspot's close and consolidation process. 
  • Perform technical accounting research, prepare memos and facilitate discussion with accounting leadership and the Accounting Operations team to reach alignment on accounting treatment.
  • Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and disclosure schedules in accordance with Highspot accounting policies (both US GAAP and IFRS).
  • Ensure appropriate controls are in place throughout certain areas of accounting responsibilities.
  • Ensure quarter-end review and year-end financial audit processes are effectively supported and any issues are resolved appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate regularly with operational business partners to identify issues and areas for operational improvement, share knowledge about financial trends and upcoming changes.
  • Effectively partner with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives, drive process improvements and implement best practices.
  • Develop accounting solutions for enterprise projects and new product offerings.
  • Own preparation of annual financial statements for Highspot, Inc. Consolidated.
  • Identify accounting topics to address within the product revenue construct and vet the proper accounting treatment to ensure consistent application of Highspot accounting policies.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience; 3 years of public accounting preferred.
  • CPA license required
  • Experience developing and implementing scalable accounting systems and process automation.
  • Experience as a people manager, proven record of successfully leading, directing and coaching.
  • Possess strong understanding of application of revenue accounting standard.
  • Proven ability to make sound, fact-based decisions and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to plan and manage multiple projects while meeting set deadlines of team deliverables.
  • Proven ability to adapt and excel in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent attention to details.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with all levels of management and cross-functional teams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications; VBA programming a plus

Our HQ is located within walking distance of Pike Place Market and the Seattle Piers. With amazing 360 views of the Puget Sound and Downtown Seattle. The only downside, there are almost too many places to pick for your lunch meetings.
