Accounting at Karat

As a member of the Accounting team at Karat, you’ll have the opportunity to shape and grow the company and business. You will be a key player of a small team of high performing accounting and finance professionals that work across departments to provide financial support to senior management and department heads to facilitate decision making. The Staff Accountant will assist by performing daily, weekly, monthly and annual accounting and finance processes, entries and reconciliations as well as ad-hoc projects.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the day-to-day activities of accounting operations including accounts payable, case transactions, general ledger entries, tax compliance, expense and credit card administration, and accounts receivable
  • Assist with the month-end and year-end close process, including preparation of monthly journal entries, credit card transaction reporting, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, providing information as needed to the team for accruals, and performing inquiries as necessary to ensure accuracy of reported data
  • Provide support as needed to department and business managers and perform special projects as assigned
  • Maintain internal controls and support document retention/organization efforts
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external vendors and customers 

About You

  • 1+ years of experience in accounting or equivalent internship experience
  • BA/BS with a concentration in Accounting or related
  • Excellent self-management practices with a demonstrated ability to be self-directed, resourceful, and ask the right questions
  • Process-oriented with ability to adapt as new processes are built
  • Enjoys collaborating and celebrating successes with teammates 
  • Comfortable communicating with teammates, customers, vendors, and other third parties

Preferred 

  • Experience processing accounts payable transactions 
  • Skilled user of Sage Intacct or a similar ERP system
  • Experience with other systems used by Accounting: Bill.Com, Expensify, TripActions, Silicon Valley Bank, American Express, and G Suite
