Chewy is seeking a passionate and results-oriented Head of HR Systems and Solutions (HRIS) to define and deliver the HR technology strategy and next generation of technology capabilities which will enable Chewy’s growth and long-term success. In this role you'll be part entrepreneur, part visionary and part product-mastermind, with a passion for creating well-designed, integrated, user-friendly solutions. You will lead the HR Solutions team to define the next generation of HR technology capabilities needed to transform our team member experience, and develop, implement, and lead the HR technology strategy, predominantly Workday, to identify and implement best in class solutions to address the demands of our rapidly scaling business.  

The Head of HR Systems and Solutions will develop strong partnerships with HR Centers of Excellence and HR Leaders to drive the selection, implementation, or upgrade systems and solutions, maximizing the use of technology to streamline HR operations and scale our business. You will help HR imagine the “art of the possible”, develop and deliver a comprehensive strategy, and roadmap which aligns our HR technology with the business needs and HR strategy to create business-led outcomes. You will build a high-performing team by leading, coaching and developing the HR System and Solutions team to promote innovation, be data driven, frame options, be trusted partners, and deliver through a product mind-set, focusing on the needs of the customers.

What you will do?

  • Develop the HR technology strategy and long-term roadmap in support of the business needs with a focus on scale, automation and improving the team member experience.
  • Influence the future of work at Chewy, as we envision how work is performed in a hybrid virtual and physical world across our distinct business units.
  • Serve as the resident expert for all things Workday, and provide thought leadership on HR systems and solutions leveraging external research and adapting to Chewy’s needs.
  • Develop rich, influential, and trusted partnerships with the various teams across the organization (HRBPs, COEs, IT, Finance, Legal) as a resident expert on all things HR systems.
  • Partner with Information Technology and Procurement to rationalize the enterprise HR technology footprint and manage vendor relationships to deliver products and services through a cost-effective HRIS infrastructure.
  • Evaluate new HR systems for fit into the larger Chewy technology architecture to ensure integration is seamless, secure, scalable, supports the right data architecture, and meets the minimum technical and compliance standards (i.e., data privacy, platform security).
  • Translate business objectives into supporting initiatives through clearly defining scope, deliverables, resources, and success measures
  • Play a “hands on” role in ensuring projects and corresponding change management is delivered on time and on budget, with compliance, usability, and quality.
  • Owns the development, implementation, and ongoing governance of our system related audit processes and controls.
  • Provide daily guidance, management, and leadership, ensuring the team is working effectively and in a way that empowers each team member to perform at their best.
  • Partners with Information Technology and other stakeholders to define the strategy and internal processes to manage configuration, integrations, testing, issues, escalations, and business continuity
  • Ensure system configurations are optimized, business processes are efficient, and the user experience is world class across HR, Payroll, Benefits, Absence, Compensation, Talent, Advanced Compensation, Employee and Manager Self Service, Time and Attendance, HR Service Portal and related business processes.

What you will need?

  • The ability to translate business objectives and unmet or under-served customer needs into a clear vision and roadmap, and drive the execution of your vision.
  • Strong bias for action with a demonstrated track record of owning and delivery products successfully in a fast paced-growth oriented business.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to diagnose, recommend appropriate solutions to complex cross-organization issues and own the end to end delivery of these solutions.
  • Expertise in several areas of HR technology and deep understanding of HR processes and practices.
  • The ability to navigate internal networks, build consensus and develops strong collaborative working relationships and credibility with key stakeholders.
  • Be a dynamic leader who instills Chewy’s Operating Principles into the team, guiding and developing the team to be a highly performing team who is focused on delivering valuable and scalable solutions for their customers.
  • Relentless focus on developing a product mind-set, delivering enhancements that drive real, measurable impact to our users; effectively managing the support process and delivery cycles for release of new features.
  • Be a "ruthless prioritizer" - organizing the work based on input/feedback from a range of stakeholders, including clients and users.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including experience working directly with users and collaborating across internal teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a tendency to challenge the status quo.
  • Self-starter, able to drive work forward within an agile environment.
  • Excellent team management and talent development skills with prior product leadership experience.
  • Ability to consult strategically will all levels of management, and a high level of business acumen.
  • Proven success in interacting and influencing senior/executive leadership.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience within HR, including leading the HRIS function and teams (Workday expertise required, Kronos knowledge preferred)
  • At least 5 years of experience in selecting, implementing, and enhancing HR systems.
  • Must have experience with vendor management, HR data management, complex project management and people management.
  • Experience scaling systems in a fast paced and changing environment and ability perform ongoing prioritization to align organization and department initiatives.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and flexible in adapting and responding to changing situations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding and obsession with service orientation; sense of urgency and follow-up and responsiveness; high-level of personal integrity and confidentiality.
  • Strong working knowledge of data privacy laws.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies, working on scrum team(s).
  • Experience leading solutions teams and collaborating across business and technical functions.
  • Experience supporting a developing and growing organization with a high rate of change.

Bonus

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in Business, Human Resources (HR), HRIS or related field.
  • Workday implementation experience and certifications.
  • E-commerce or retail experience.
