About the Role:

Our Head of People Business Partners and People Ops manages the HRBP and People Ops teams to create the talent strategy, workforce plan and people development roadmap across OfferUp. You will own a customer group as well as  partner with, coach and advise Leaders to build their leadership capability to support our strategies, develop our talent and achieve important outcomes. This role is also expected to take leadership roles on OU-wide People programs and related project teams. You will report to the chief people and diversity officer. 

This role can be in Bellevue, Washington or @Remote in the following states: Washington, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas.

Responsibilities: 

  • Talent Strategy: You will design a comprehensive talent strategy with executive management to ensure successful execution of our goals. Lead the People Ops team providing daily HR support of the business, and partner with the Centers of Excellence (COE's) that comprise our Talent Acquisition and Employee Experience Teams. 
  • Change Management: You will coach leaders on planning and communications related to change management programs, and working through organizational design to promote role clarity at the individual and team level. Determine and guide/organize complex change plans for client group(s). Orchestrate full circle review of change impact to ensure change acceptance. Communicate changes and potential impact to wider group of members outside of client group. 
  • Talent and Workforce Planning solutions: You will Lead effort to identify potential successors for important roles and leadership positions. Establish clarity about important roles and develop strategies to address retention risks and skill gaps.  Involved in selection of our talent. Provide direct mentoring of several high potentials. 
  • Culture and Employee Experience: You will help establish and foster OU culture by partnering with the employee experience team to improve programs, diagnostics, and related training engagements, to develop OUs overall capability to foster an inclusive, collaborative, fun and fair workplace.  Work with the leadership team to ensure employees' clarity about our vision and help to build a culture of passion for our mission. 
    • Demonstrated ability, with compensation partner, to develop recommendations on compensation. Understand concepts of unvested equity and vesting timelines as it relates to compensation. 
    • Organizational Effectiveness: You will identify gaps hindering achievement of outcomes and ensure business is focused on solving issues. Guide increasingly complex plans to improve organization effectiveness. 
    • Workforce Analytics and Technology: You will identify important metrics to assess and diagnose the health of the organization. Educate leadership on headcount planning and related metrics (e.g. span-of-control). Apply knowledge of HR metrics and use data from multiple tools to assess and influence / guide our decisions.

  • You have 12 or more years of progressive success as a senior strategic HRBP leader with People Ops experience that covers the HRIS, compensation, benefits and reporting. 
  • A leader who operates within the gray and believes in guidelines vs policies. 
  • A knowledge leader, with demonstrated mastery in organizational development, change leadership, and overall talent management. 
  • Excellent change management skills - able to methodically work through complex problems, set priorities, build commitments and achieve on time impactful results. 
  • A business leader, who is equally a builder of HR solutions based on HR best practices, as well as, an astute business member who employs solutions that affect performance. 
  • Able to balance compassion and toughness in coaching others. 
  • You are passionate for creating inclusive organizations, driving transformation and helping culture be a competitive advantage.
  • You are a builder/fixer and can change priorities on a dime as needed.
