Position Overview

Geocaching HQ is seeking a talented HR Coordinator to add to our small-but-mighty HR team! In this function, you’ll get to wear many hats to support our passionate, authentic, and effective organization. The HR Coordinator will be the primary administrator for: HR systems, recruiting coordination, perks & benefits administration, new hire onboarding, and a diverse array of tasks to keep our HR operations running smoothly. Most impactful of all, you’ll serve a critical role in supporting Geocaching HQ’s vision of being the best place any of our employees have ever worked. What you’ll do:

  • Support Geocaching HQ’s recruiting and onboarding efforts through management of job postings, candidate sourcing and screening, interview coordination, background check screening, and overall administration of a flawless candidate & new hire experience
  • Administer health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations; processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
  • Collaborate with Finance for payroll preparations; processing employee information and upkeep in the payroll system
  • Coordinate administrative aspects of employment changes and ensure all necessary documents are accurate and appropriately stored
  • Maintain HR systems such as the company intranet, HRIS, and Applicant Tracking System; making enhancements as appropriate
  • Interface and handle a variety of employee questions and concerns to resolve/escalate as appropriate
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation, and maintains I-9 files
  • Support the administration of the leave of absence program; ensure legal compliance in providing information to employees and supervisors regarding leaves of absence and how they will affect benefits and job status
  • Assist in compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws in all employee related practices including FLSA, FMLA, HIPAA, EEO, ADA, OSHA, COBRA and related compliance areas
  • Stay current on changing Federal and State regulations and legislation that may affect policies and benefits
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of Geocaching, our community, and our products

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience, with at least 1 year of hands-on HR/recruiting work
  • Professional experience in a tech, gaming, or outdoor industry preferred
  • Problem solve, herd cats, and other tasks as assigned

Required Skills:

  • Organizational and time management skills with expert attention to detail
  • Proficient with technical systems such as HRIS, payroll, and ATS (exposure to Paylocity and Google Hire a plus!)
  • Famous for being a great listener
  • Stunning verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent project management skills and adaptability to changes in project scopes
  • Experience working with Google Suite (calendar, sheets, docs, Gmail)
  • Proven ability to effectively support multiple teams
  • Exceptional presentation skills for any audience
  • Extra Credit: A penchant for “HR practices that don’t suck”
