Title: People & Culture Partner (HRBP)

Position Summary:

Trupanion is seeking a People & Culture Partner to join our skilled and passionate People Operations team! In this role, you will partner with the business and your People Operations peers to support a growing team of US and Canadian team members throughout their journey at Trupanion. We are looking for a thoughtful partner who can facilitate team member engagement and success through trusted relationships, coaching, and creative problem-solving.

The main focus area of this role is to help leaders and team members navigate sticky situations with ease; to help others help themselves. You will ensure concerns are handled in a manner consistent with our mission and values. You will thoughtfully balance the unique needs of individuals with the needs of the business, facilitating conflict resolution and influencing optimal outcomes.

Trupanion is continually growing and innovating, so you should be comfortable (and thrive!) in a dynamic environment.  We are building many programs and processes from scratch and looking for team members skilled in doing just that.

What you will focus on:

Advising & Problem Solving - Using strong business insight and HR expertise to advise on a variety of team member needs (including onboarding, engagement and retention, performance management, time away from work, and applicable laws).

Manager Effectiveness – Building relationships to deeply understand the role and needs of people managers.  Recommending and implementing tools and processes that empower managers and set them up for success.

Navigating Change – Role modeling agility and adapting to new situations with willingness and optimism.  Advising leaders in building effective communication and change plans as teams grow and evolve.

Team Culture – Actively cultivating an amazing, inclusive Trupanion team member experience where all team members feel fulfilled and supported.  Developing and coaching to policies and programs that support a balanced, healthy workplace culture.

Where You Shine:

Business Partner Consultancy - You are a valued coach and advisor to leaders and seen as a team member advocate. You can assess a situation and recommend solutions aligned with Trupanion’s culture and goals.  People seek your advice because you mix strong business insight with HR know-how and creative problem-solving.

Performance Management - You believe in consistent, real, and honest feedback. You help leaders provide the most productive, ongoing performance feedback and help the company in continuing to build capability around regular goal setting, feedback and coaching, and performance assessment.

Operational Excellence - You deliver HR services seamlessly, both building new solutions and iterating on existing ones.  You are accurate, timely and have a passion for providing good service. You find ways to increase quality, efficiency, and team member satisfaction.

Artful Analysis - You are equally comfortable navigating metrics as narrative feedback.  You analyze information across a variety of sources to build a complete story and identify trends and areas of opportunity. You use data to help influence change and recommend improvements to the team member experience.

Your experience:

  • 3+ years partnering with business leaders to understand needs and offer relevant people solutions

  • Experience working in a complex and evolving work environment with expertise in guiding effective organizational change
