In the last year our engineers built a 2MW hydrogen fuel cell and battery powerplant to retrofit a three-story, 300-metric-ton-capacity diesel haul truck; designed the power source and refueling system for the world's first endurance race vehicle to be powered by liquid hydrogen; and delivered spaceflight hardware headed 370 million kilometers from Earth to asteroid 16 Psyche.

First Mode is looking to add an enthusiastic and talented Recruiting Manager to join our growing People team. You will lead and expand our high-performing team of technical recruiters. You will partner with hiring stakeholders to create scalable recruiting strategies that will produce diverse pipelines across the U.S. and Australia. The ideal candidate is a driven, inspiring leader and self-starter who is passionate about growing teams of engineers to build the barely possible. This position will report to the VP of People.
Position Responsibilities

  • Lead, inspire, and grow a team of technical recruiters to meet the dynamic demands of a rapidly growing and global organization
  • Partner with our executives to develop, strategize, and execute global hiring plans
  • Partner with hiring managers to continuously iterate and improve interview processes, create sourcing and closing strategies, prioritize key roles, and more
  • Develop hiring strategies based on inclusionary recruiting practices that ensure efficient, effective and objective evaluation processes
  • Collaborate with marketing to execute creative talent sourcing and recruiting campaigns that scale for attracting quality diverse talent
  • Define consistent data-driven hiring metrics and goals, aligning both recruiters and business leaders alike
  • Coach team on sourcing practices, recruiting strategies, relationship building, pipeline efficiency, offer negotiation, and closing
  • Track and analyze hiring data to identify trends, track progress against goals and inform recruitment strategy
  • Recruit for key roles as needed


Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience as a technical recruiter
  • 1+ years of experience leading a recruiting team
  • Experience as an in-house recruiter


Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of recruitment experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading a recruiting team
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and enabling recruiters to develop strategic recruiting plans, exceed hiring goals, and form trusted relationships with executive leadership
  • Experience providing a consultative recruiting approach with internal stakeholders
  • Knowledge of and passion for diverse and equitable recruiting practices
  • Solutions-oriented and have the strategic ability to problem-solve complex problems and can navigate them with ease
  • Fluent with data and eager to get creative and curious about metrics that highlight opportunity
  • Knowledge of OFCCP and EEO compliance for hiring
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, applicant tracking systems, and LinkedIn Recruiter
  • Experience working in a fast-paced and growth-oriented environment, especially in technology


Location

  • This position will be located at First Mode's headquarters in Seattle, WA and will be required to work in office >60% of working hours

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
