Ready to build products in a truly product-driven company? Are you passionate about using technology to change the world?

Groupon’s mission is to become the daily habit in local commerce and fulfill our purpose of building strong communities through thriving small businesses by connecting people to a vibrant, global marketplace for local services, experiences and goods. In the process, we’re positively impacting the lives of millions of customers and merchants globally. Even with thousands of employees spread across multiple continents, we still maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking and celebrates success.

As a part of Groupon’s Engineering team, our Product teams are the glue holding our technical projects together. While they might look different in each part of the organization, they all use a variety of different technologies and development practices to liaise and build pioneering local commerce products used by hundreds of millions of people. Depending on the team you jump into, you’ll have a healthy mix of both technical and business-facing responsibilities, allowing you the autonomy to be both analytical and creative.

As an Intern in Product, you are effectively the liaison within the team, working with designers, developers and senior management to guide projects through to fruition and help our teams build successful products. In this role, you’ll be working on projects that will have a direct impact on large-scale initiatives and be able to see your hard work pay off quickly. You’ll work in a small, independent team and use agile practices - giving you the perfect hybrid between the feel and impact opportunity of a startup, with the assets of a public company.

We're a "best of both worlds" kind of company. We're big enough to have resources and scale, but small enough that a single person has a surprising amount of autonomy and can make a meaningful impact. We're curious, fun, a little intense, and kind of obsessed with helping local businesses thrive. Does that sound like a compelling place to work?

As an intern, you’ll get the following:

  • Exposure; Being a household name gives employees the opportunity to work in startup-like environment and focus on deeply interesting work that you wouldn’t get to do anywhere else - prepare to make a large scale impact in a short amount of time

  • Professional Development; Participate in weekly “lunch and learns” with other engineering and business functions, skill building workshops, and networking sessions

  • Fun; Explore the city through our planned intern social outings, and develop your network while getting to know your peers and Groupon’s leaders

  • Mentorship; Look forward to one-on-one time with dedicated managers and mentors to facilitate your growth throughout the summer internship experience

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • Building relationships with different people across all business organizations while exploring different functional areas of Groupon

  • Having a seat at the table; you'll sit in on meetings, create solutions, collaborate with senior leaders, and have the opportunity to put your ideas into production

  • Shipping your ideas and building out features that may go live on our site

  • Owning a project that will span the majority of your summer that will expose you to cross-functional areas; you'll work with a mentor to create your vision and strategy in order to be successful

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Currently enrolled in an BS, MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar field

  • You’re a self-starter who can execute in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction

  • Ability to work collaboratively in an environment that promotes constant team communication

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • You have an excellent understanding of product development and how web and mobile technologies work

  • You have strong analytical, problem solving, and project management skills

Groupon provides a global marketplace where people can buy just about anything, anywhere, anytime. We’re enabling real-time commerce across an expanding range of categories including local businesses, travel destinations, consumer products, and live or lively events. At the same time, we are providing advertising options and tools that merchants can use to grow and manage their businesses. Culturally, we believe that great people make great companies and that starting with the customer and working backward moves us forward. Community matters to us on an internal, local and global scale—it’s fundamental to our company’s growth and to the well-being of the world at large. We also value self-awareness, candor, lunch and WiFi. If we match with you, please apply to join us.
