What You’ll Be Part Of:

The Creative BackEnd team analyzes real-time TV advertising data, combining survey and ad data to deliver actionable insights to clients via APIs and reporting. We build and maintain tools for survey execution, ad management, real-time calculations, and AI-powered applications.

As part of this team, you will work closely with R&D to establish entirely new standards of value in the advertising industry and help deliver innovative features that have never existed before.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of highly scalable and performant web applications and services within a microservices architecture.
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers in software development best practices, code quality, and technical problem-solving.
  • Architect complex systems and define technical roadmaps, ensuring alignment with long-term business goals.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with R&D, QA, Front-End, and SRE teams to define requirements, resolve technical challenges, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Take ownership of key technical initiatives and act as the primary point of contact for critical systems, managing their full lifecycle from conception to production.
  • Establish and enforce code quality standards, best practices, and a culture of technical excellence across the engineering team.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure code health, maintainability, and consistency.
  • Anticipate and address technical debt and architectural bottlenecks, proposing and implementing scalable solutions.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • 8+ years of server-side web development experience, with a significant portion in a leadership or senior role.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and mentor developers, fostering their growth and professional development.
  • Expert-level knowledge of full-cycle web development, software design, and system architecture, with a focus on large-scale, distributed systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering complex, high-volume systems that require exceptional security, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to influence technical decisions and drive consensus across different teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership mentality and a track record of driving projects to completion and taking responsibility for their outcomes.
  • Experience defining and implementing engineering best practices and managing technical projects from concept to launch.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with most of the following: Python (REQUIRED), Go (REQUIRED), Java (Spring/Hibernate), Node.js, React
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS SQS, S3, Elasticsearch
  • Experience with Git, JIRA, Confluence
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Github Copilot, Amazon Q)

Target cash compensation range: $148,550 - $191,630 USD Annually

We are committed to providing competitive, market-informed compensation. The cash compensation above includes base salary, variable commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all full time iSpotters are eligible to participate in iSpot’s equity plan to receive stock options. Non-exempt roles will also be eligible for (pre-approved) overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are influenced by different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.

Hybrid & Flexible Workplace Policy

iSpot supports a hybrid and flexible workplace. Depending on location and work responsibilities, employees may be designated as full-time or part-time office-based or a fully remote employee. A hybrid work schedule indicates that you work in the office some days and work from home other days. The best hybrid workplaces allow for flexibility while also encouraging consistency. 

Those local or living in surrounding areas to one of our offices (Bellevue, WA; El Segundo, CA; New York, NY) will work a hybrid schedule, coming into their local office 1-3 days a week. While those in a role, not office-based and located further away from our offices, will work a fully remote schedule. If you have questions regarding exact details of our hybrid & flexible workplace policy, please let your recruiter know and they will discuss with you further.
