Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The community you will join:

Airbnb is seeking Legal Interns for our 2026 Summer Intern Program from June 1, 2026 - August 21, 2026.

The Legal team at Airbnb embodies the company’s innovative and entrepreneurial spirit. Airbnb continues to break new ground in matters of policy and law around the world. Where some see obstacles, we see opportunities to find creative and practical solutions. We’re an adventurous, fast-moving group that supports many functions and teams across the company.

We are looking for first-year law students that are excited to learn new skills and take on challenges with integrity and curiosity as they learn about the practical dimensions of practicing law in-house.

The difference you will make:

As an intern, you’ll be integrated into a team where you’ll contribute to challenging projects. Your manager, team, and our incredible employee community will strive to be superhosts to you during the summer. We provide the support, mentorship, fun, and real world experience needed to accelerate your learning and make a real impact on our product, as Airbnb revolutionizes connection, belonging, and travel.

A typical day:

You will work with members of the legal team, including other interns, and folks from across the organization to support a variety of legal functions, which may include: Intellectual Property, Corporate, Commercial, Marketing, Product, Privacy, Payments, Litigation, Regulatory/Policy, Insurance, and Employment. You’ll get exposure to each of these functional areas, dedicated training from subject matter experts, and will have opportunities to work on legal questions for multiple of these teams.

As an intern, you’ll be expected to:

  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project milestones
  • Complete projects crossing different areas of law, balancing priorities and deadlines, including a final project that you’ll share with the full legal team
  • Communicate with the legal team and other stakeholders to provide project updates and share your work
  • Proactively seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the legal and broader Airbnb community, like pro bono efforts

Important Note: Our 2026 Summer Intern Program design is still being finalized as we aim to create meaningful connection and community. As plans evolve, there may be in-person elements hosted at our San Francisco office, and we will share details well in advance if applicable. Additionally, please note that the Legal team is global and frequently works with employees in other time zones. If hired as an intern, you may need to accommodate global teammates from time-to-time, but should expect to primarily be available during Pacific Time business hours.

Your expertise:

This opportunity is for first-year law students (Juris Doctorate) enrolled full-time at a nationally-accredited law school with the following interests and skills:

  • Strong interest in learning about in-house legal practice and about multiple practice areas
  • Great verbal and written communication skills and interest in honing new communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Adaptable and able to adjust plans and manage changes effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and interest in initiating and building relationships and collaborating with teams within and outside of Legal
  • Passion for the Airbnb mission; experience with the platform is a plus!
  • Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT is accepted) - visa sponsorship is unavailable

How to apply:

In addition to your resume, you are required to submit the following in your application:

  • A cover letter that answers the following questions:
    • (1) Which Airbnb Core Value(s) most resonates with you?
    • (2) What do you hope to gain from this internship?

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
