Routine state and local compliance flies below the radar. This is despite the fact that every corporate entity is required to comply with state and local law in all of the states where it operates. The two large players that dominate the industry have changed very little since they started business over 120 years ago. Meanwhile, companies and law firms struggle to manage all of the activities associated with maintaining compliance. This dated yet profitable industry is ripe for disruption and we’re looking for a hands-on technology leader to help us make it happen.

About you:

You have a strong track record of providing timely, responsive solutions for companies and law firms as they need to navigate through the arcane world of state and local compliance. You’ve mastered the dark art of managing administrative requirements, disorganized customers and tight deadlines. You aren’t beholden to the old way of doing things simply because that’s how it’s always been done and are constantly looking for new ways that will save time and money. You’re comfortable with technology and sharing your insights with the technology team. You’re an active advocate for the customer and drive the rest of the organization to deliver on the customer’s behalf. You’re a wicked good project manager who can keep all of the trains on the right track and on time.

We’re creating something that doesn’t exist in the world yet. We’re looking for someone who brings customer and process insights to the table and will work closely with the product team to translate these insights into best-in-class tech solutions that make our customers say, “wow.”

As the Customer Engagement Manager, you’ll...

• Serve as the subject matter expert on all things having to do with corporate compliance, especially at the state and local level.
• Build and embody the company’s culture and mission and act as the voice of the company with customers and government officials.
• Execute, execute, execute: especially in the early days, you’ll be rolling up your sleeves and making sure that whatever needs to get done for customers, gets done
• Coordinate day-to-day activities with 3rd party service and technology providers to eliminate friction for the customer

• Partner with the business and product teams to understand the customer and shape product vision and requirements
• We are users as well as developers of our own product, you will be using and assessing the tools that will ultimately be rolled out to customers.
• Design test strategies and create appropriate test harnesses, data, and tools that increase the speed of sprint cycles and allow for constant high-quality results
• Get to know our customer (or know them well already) and use that empathy to inform building an exceptional product
• Maintain and build on top of the initial version of the webapp (Heroku, Django, React)

• 5+ years of relevant corporate compliance experience, including time with a registered agent company
• 2+ years as a corporate paralegal
• 3+ years of team management experience
• Have experience partnering with product teams
