The Chef community is the foundation of how we develop and grow the Chef software platform, and maintaining and growing a vibrant and successful community is core to the ongoing growth of the company. 

To best serve and represent the needs of Chef contributors, we are hiring a Community Manager to our team to act as a bridge between our extensive diverse and engaged community with our company. This person will be the voice of Chef for our community, and the voice of our community for Chef. You must be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, ambitious, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged. You must love being part of a highly engaged community, and have a deep passion to improve the success and vibrance of our community.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Actively engage with the community via direct responses in a variety of platforms (Slack, Discourse, Twitter, etc.)
  • Develop and communicate Chef community strategy and success metrics within the company
  • Create and deliver content (blogs, social media posts YouTube videos, etc.) both for the contributor community and to communicate highlights and developments for the community.
  • Build and nurture a cross-functional group of informal community leaders
  • Own the feedback loop back to the organization for all community-related issues
  • Champion corporate and marketing key messages and product directions
  • Participate in Chef community networking events
  • Assist community members in the development of technical and soft skills
  • Maintain the quality and voice of the Chef community, including ensuring members are aware of and follow the Chef Code of Conduct

Role Requirements:

  • 3-5 years experience in community management
  • Track record of active community participation
  • A demonstrable passion for technology, with experiences with and understanding of DevOps, cloud computing or application delivery strongly preferred.
  • Active user of Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.
  • Knowledge of community engagement measurement tools
  • Current with digital technology trends
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated success collaboratively developing community strategy and implementing tactics
  • Degree in marketing, communications, or relevant field preferred
