About the Role:

The Editorial Director is the chief storyteller at RealSelf and a key leader on our marketing team. This role is responsible for setting our editorial strategy and leading the team that will create and curate content that makes our brand come to life leveraging multi-media stories and assets to reach the RealSelf consumer across our own blog, social channels and through collaborative syndication partnerships.

The world of aesthetics is complex and ever-changing and the RealSelf Editorial Director is passionate about creating compelling, “always on” content and storylines that helps demystify the category and engage a predominantly female audience. We attract millions of people from around the world every month, and our mission is to inspire and educate RealSelf users with valuable information and content to help them make smart, confident decisions and connect to the right doctors. As our Editorial Director, you play a critical role in activating and engaging our community and helping to attract millions more.

Success in this role requires skills in developing creative strategy, crafting compelling multimedia storylines, drafting great copy, and a love for pushing the limits on leveraging social influencers, platforms, campaigns and communities to aggressively grow our awareness, audience and engagement on all major social profiles (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and other owned channels.

In this role you will:

• Craft overall editorial and content strategy for RealSelf, working closely with Marketing leadership
• Collaborate with Brand and Creative teams to influence and execute brand image voice and tone through all channels and help bring brand initiatives and campaigns to life
• Build and manage a growing network of professional freelance writers
• Collaborate with the Social team to execute on campaigns and new experiments that drive engagement, awareness, and direct traffic
• Build the RealSelf blog into respected and authoritative media property
• Create and manage strategic syndication partnerships with third-party publishers
• Stay abreast of consumer insights, emerging technologies and best practices
• Manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Define and monitor multiple KPIs to evaluate and report performance
  

You may be the right fit if you have:

• 10-12 years experience leading an always-on editorial operation with background in both storytelling and audience development
• Significant experience in digital media or publishing with proven ability to manage multiple channels to build a large and engaged audience
• Innovative background, especially in regards to social, video, visual and interactive media, and how these translate to audience acquisition and engagement
• Experience creating and managing strategic and syndication partnerships
• Experience managing and developing an in-house team and professional network of freelancers / contributors
• Great communicator with strong writing, editing and presentation skills
• Passion for your work and brand, with a strong POV and a sense of confidence in how to get things done and bring others along with you
• Strong ethics and high journalistic standards
• Ability to evaluate real-time analytics to create, adapt and push out relevant content on distributed platforms
• Comfort with data-driven management to monitor and articulate performance and ROI
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting daily deadlines

Work Environment:

The RealSelf office sits in a historic Pioneer Square building. Employees also have the option to bring their dogs to work!
