You: The ideal candidate for the Event Marketing Specialist role has a passion for creating unique, persuasive in-person and virtual experiences that engage current and prospective customers. You thrive on developing event strategies that ensure optimal attendee experiences and return on investment, as well as rolling up your sleeves to manage the nitty gritty details – from swag to catering menus to seating arrangements. To be successful in this role, you must be an exceptional communicator, have a high level of organization, show a sense of urgency around decision making and execution, understand how to leverage technology to automate and expedite manual processes, and have working knowledge/experience using marketing channels including events, digital, social and email to create a high-value cohesive brand experience.

What we want you to do:

Event Marketing: Manage event strategy and execution for event sponsorships and company-hosted events, ranging from 50-300 attendees, and manage components of Apptio’s annual user event, TBM Conference. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Developing a strategy and plan for each event and managing logistics end to end
  • Coordinating event sponsorships, including working with internal teams to create booth, signage and pre/post event marketing emails, social medial posts, etc.
  • Managing venue selection, contracts, securing F&B, determining room layout, etc.
  • Working closely with field marketing, SDR and sales teams to ensure thorough event follow up
  • Setting and achieving event attendance, lead and opportunity goals and reporting out on performance
  • Ensuring events are executed on time and on budget

Membership Marketing & Engagement: Lead the development and execution of the membership engagement and growth strategy for our industry community, which may include content creation both digital and print, editorial, social and web to increase responsiveness to membership programs and calls to action. Review, evaluate and communicate membership trends, needs and participation.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of project and event management experience in B2B
  • 2+ years of marketing copywriting experience

  • Ability to shift priorities easily and be self-motivated and proactive
  • Outstanding team player with cross-group alignment capability
  • Bachelor’s degree with marketing or business focus preferred

  • Demonstrated ability in strategic thinking and impeccable execution with the ability to organize a series of tasks into end-to-end programs
  • Data-driven with analytical aptitude
  • Well versed in latest event tactics and trends

Skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Extremely organized
  • Working knowledge of software applications including Microsoft Office, Salesforce.com, Cvent, WebEx, Marketo and Jive
