Overview: The Executive Communications Director at F5 serves as a center of excellence within the Brand Development Team to develop, raise (and protect) both F5 and its executives’ reputations. Responsible for both F5’s corporate reputation and Executive Team’s external and internal communications, s/he leads the strategy and execution of persuasive, high-ROI engagements and content that will reboot F5’s brand and advance the Executive Team’s business objectives.

The Director will work closely with the company’s CEO and Executive Team, as well as lead contractor(s) and agencies that support F5’s Brand Development Team.

Responsibilities:

40% - Strategy

  • Develop and lead cross-functional, long-term reputation and executive communications strategy and platform that:
  • Influences and aligns brand narrative and corporate messaging across the Executive Team, the business and within Marketing
  • Drives F5’s reputation and crisis communications on key corporate issues and initiatives that impact F5’s brand (such as corporate strategy, organizational changes, or public policy issues), in close partnership with Internal Communications
  • Develops outstanding executive communications platforms across both internal and external communication channels and events, that accelerates F5’s corporate strategy
  • Support investor relations and business continuity initiatives where appropriate

40% - Content

  • Produce strategic, creative, high-performing content that differentiates and elevates the F5 brand and its executives’ priorities through:
  • Creating & publishing an editorial calendar for reputation/brand and executive communications, to promote cross-Marketing collaboration
  • Writing executive talking points, scripts, messages, blogs, editorials, and bylines that drive employee alignment, thought leadership, market point of view and brand advocacy
  • Partnering with internal teams and bring to bear vendors to develop presentations that support brand, event narrative, including speech writing, design, and accompanying multi-media
  • Prioritizing and crafting outstanding and high-quality Executive Team social media content that significantly accelerates executives’ social media follower growth, engagement, and click-through rates to F5 digital properties

20% - Engagement

  • Make the absolute most of the executives’ time with influencers that can help advance/amplify F5 priorities by:
  • Securing F5 thought leadership and brand advocacy, premier industry speaking engagements and expands traditional media relationships to include non-traditional influencers, in partnership with Marketing teams.
  • Collaborating within Marketing to drive world-class business media engagements worldwide, with special focus on collaborating with theatre PR teams on executive travel and events
  • Over time, expand engagements to include next wave influencers that align with company’s long-term strategy (e.g. AI specialists)

Knowledge, skills and Abilities:

  • 10+ Years of enterprise tech experience required, proficiency in issues related to digital transformation, cybersecurity and diversity & inclusion highly preferred
  • Utmost discretion with critical company and employee information
  • Strategic, creative and detailed storyteller, with validated experience in exec presentations and speaker training, messages, editorials, blogs and social media
  • Confident, persuasive and convicted, but low ego - prizes the group over self
  • Thrives under fast paced and complex conditions, including crises
  • Demonstrated success handling projects from start to finish, working effectively across functional teams and leading external vendor relationships.
  • Adept at leading vendor team(s) and agency budgets

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
  • Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
  • Duties may require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
