As OfferUp embarks on the next evolution and growth phase of our brand, we’re seeking a Community & Social Media Manager to join our team who has a strong background in community management, social strategy, and tactical execution. This person is a tech-savvy professional with experience in integrated campaigns and creating and curating social content that achieves the short and long term objectives of the brand. This person will help set the strategy and manage the company’s online community platform and social media channels, including the planning, creation, execution, and reporting of engagement and digital content programs. In this role, you will collaborate extensively with platform vendors, and internal teams, including analytics, customer care, and marketing.

This position requires exceptional oral and written communication skills and the ability to keep both high-level strategy and executional elements top of mind in bringing our brand to life, while also listening to and engaging with our communities to inform and optimize strategy as well as strengthen our connectivity with our community of existing and potential users.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the OfferUp Online Community including maintaining and setting the strategy
  • Develop and implement a programmatic, measurable social media strategy for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, and LinkedIn that will drive quality traffic and engagement to install the app and our blog
  • Provide oversight and direction to the online community and social teams through expectation setting, coaching, mentoring and development
  • Build and manage a team of community moderators
  • Manage the editorial calendar; work with creative and content teams to populate, review and prepare content for posting to online communities
  • Moderate, edit and manage users, posts, and Community Guideline infringements
  • Create clear, actionable roadmaps and editorial calendars to keep our community engaged and growing
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to set the tone, growth path, and roadmap for online communities and social
  • Analyze, prepare and deliver reports and company wide presentations to internal stakeholders on community and social performance
  • Work with the internal customer care team to coordinate consistency and appropriate responses to customer inquiries and issues across all channels
  • Grow engaged communities by managing long-lead editorial calendars, creating and posting content, monitoring conversations, responding when needed, and monitoring brand buzz.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years professional hands on experience building online communities and developing social media strategies
  • Familiarity with the admin and technical aspects of community platforms (Lithium a plus)
  • Understanding of social analytics; familiarity with measurement tools preferred
  • Strong demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences: adjust tone and approach for different customers in the community
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills
  • High level of familiarity with established and emerging social platforms
  • Demonstrated success creating and driving community metrics
  • Excellent relationship-building, interpersonal skills, and presentation skills
  • Diplomatic and professional with the ability to work well with all levels of staff (both internal & external)
  • Passion and empathy for the consumers perspective
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
  • Assertive and resourceful with a proven track record of getting things done
