DESCRIPTION

Amazon is seeking a high-judgement, self-motivated, and highly creative communications professional to join our Corporate Communications team in North America. This individual will lead all proactive campaigns about our corporate culture and directly support leaders and teams in the HR organization.

This person will be responsible for designing and executing proactive PR campaigns around some of Amazon’s key HR programs and initiatives – from Upskilling 2025, Machine Learning University and Amazon Technical Academy, to Amazon’s parental leave benefits, Amazon Connections or Student Programs.

Once joining Amazon, the candidate will work with internal teams daily to build trust and provide strategic counsel to leaders across the HR organization, but also build strong relations with members of the media and external influencers to tell new and interesting stories about our corporate culture. This person will have experience in managing complex narratives and issues with the press, crave autonomy and ownership, and be willing and able to roll up their sleeves and get stuff done.

The successful candidate will:
· Design and execute yearlong PR campaigns about Amazon’s unique HR programs, including Upskilling 2025 among others.
· Develop, build, and maintain strong relationships with press contacts.
· Provide strategic counsel to senior business leaders and business teams, including prepping them for media interviews and speaking opportunities.
· Manage cross channel communications in partnership with internal communications, social media, and similar storytelling teams.
· Draft written materials, including press releases, memos, pitches, statements, Q&As, and more.
· Identify and leverage data to support storytelling efforts – build trust and strong relations with internal teams to mine for good stories
· Show extraordinary high judgment, particularly in narrow time frames.
· Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges and be able to deal with ambiguity.
· Show strong creativity and think big skills.
· Write annual plans and be responsible for quarterly business reviews and manage a budget.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· 8+ years of experience in Public Relations.
· Bachelor’s degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience executing highly successful, creative campaigns and events.
· Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
· Attention to detail.
· A network of media contacts and a desire to work with the media proactively.
· Collaborative team player.
· High ownership and commitment to delivering results.
· Willingness to work hard and roll up sleeves to get work done, even if outside the job’s scope.
· An entrepreneurial spirit, including the ability to work independently and autonomously.
· Experience serving as spokesperson.
· Experience working with executives.
· Experience managing budgets and agencies.
