About the Role:
RealSelf is seeking an exceptional Senior Editor responsible for refining and implementing our editorial consumer strategy and to create and curate content that makes our brand come to life.
The world of aesthetics is complex and ever-changing and the RealSelf Senior Editor is passionate about creating compelling, relevant content and storylines that help demystify the category and engage a predominantly female audience. As our Senior Editor, you play a critical role in activating and engaging our community and helping to attract millions more.
Success in this role requires skills in crafting and internal selling of compelling multimedia storylines, drafting great copy, and managing a team of freelancers. You will also be working with product and advertising sales teams to ensure digital platforms are optimized appropriately for audience engagement, monetization, and SEO.
In this role you will:
- Craft and manage multi-media editorial and content for RealSelf. Collaborate with Marketing Leadership and the Brand, Social, Email, and PR teams to execute on campaigns and test new ideas that drive engagement, awareness, and direct traffic both on RealSelf and on paid and earned channels
- Build the RealSelf blog into a respected and authoritative media property
- Build and manage a network of professional freelance writers
- Collaborate with Brand and Creative teams to influence and execute brand image voice and tone through all channels and help bring brand initiatives and campaigns to life
- Create and manage strategic syndication partnerships with third-party publishers
- Define and monitor multiple KPIs to evaluate and report performance
About You: You will be an ideal candidate if you have the ability to draft and sell-in your vision and journalistic skills to accelerate awareness of the RealSelf brand by reaching consumers through influencer interviews, data-driven stories, and informative pieces that drive engagement, shares, and audience growth. Video and multimedia aren’t an afterthought for you -you think about storytelling across multiple channels and media and are comfortable working with in-house and outside resources to move fast while maintaining quality levels.
You may be the right fit if you have:
- 6+ years experience leading an always-on editorial operation with background in both storytelling and audience development
- 3+ years of experience managing and developing freelance contributors and syndication partnerships
- Significant experience in digital media or publishing with proven ability to manage multiple channels, leveraging multiple media types to build a large and engaged audience
- Clear understanding of SEO principles and how to leverage analytics in creating optimal content for the index
- Innovative background, especially in regards to social, video, visual and interactive media, and how these translate to audience acquisition and engagement
- Ability to evaluate real-time analytics to create, adapt and push out relevant content on distributed platforms. Comfort with data-driven management to monitor and articulate performance and ROI
- Strong ethics and high journalistic standards
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting daily deadlines
- Experience being scrappy and creating compelling content and programs without lavish Fortune 500 budgets

The RealSelf office sits in a historic Pioneer Square building. Employees also have the option to bring their dogs to work!
