The Search Marketing team is responsible for growing Groupon traffic from external search engine users and providing them better and more engaging experiences on the site in order to drive new customer acquisition and greater revenue for all of Groupon’s worldwide lines of business including Local Deals, Products, and Travel.  We do this through automated SEO, SEM, and Landing Page Optimization technologies but also with development and execution of content and link generation strategies that reinforce the user experience and enhance the Groupon brand. The team is a key component to implementing Groupon’s “Pull” strategy that is already transforming Groupon from its origins as a daily deal company to an ever present source for customers to discover local merchants and  service-providers for entertainment, adventure, travel and great deals on products.

In this position you will manage the team that runs SEO product, content and operations. You will work very closely with dedicated engineering teams in SEO and work closely with related teams across Groupon as well as marketing finance, marketing analytics and Groupon business leaders. You will forecast the annual budget and adjust it throughout the year to incorporate changes due to external and internal influences.  Ultimately, you will be responsible for ensuring that SEO executes optimally throughout the year and serves as a huge catalyst for Groupon’s aggressive annual growth plans.

Responsibilities

  • Business forecasting, reporting, budget. Regular updates on product development, traffic, revenue and acquisition results to executive leaders and other internal stakeholders.
  • Build world class products to improve user experience and conversion, manage campaigns more accurately and efficiently, grow the footprint of Organic Search. Hire and retain top product and marketing talent.
  • Build scalable content and link building processes aligned with Groupon brand and product focus, utilizing in house editorial resources, outside agencies, Groupon PR, social media and internal hires as needed.
  • Contribute to Groupon overall product strategy, directing Local, Getaways and Goods channel teams to increase and improve data in their product catalogs, improve user experience and optimally meet requirements for search engine’s.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong background and proven success in SEO at large consumer-facing website. Demonstrated ability to a/b test and learn what drives growth.

  • 5+ years proven track record successfully managing Digital Marketing teams at large scale ecommerce or other consumer-facing sites.

  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and solve open ended projects with in-house resources, outsourced agencies, or small scrappy teams that come together in an agile environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience reporting business to senior management

  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis and communicating the results of that analysis.

  • Experience managing a small teams of high performers to deliver big results

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS Computer Science or equivalent
