The Social Media Specialist role for HowStuffWorks will find creative ways to interact and engage with our social media audience. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn and implement a variety of social strategies, build out the social media editorial calendar, draft copy for audiences across the company, engage with and monitor social media channels and experiment with social creatives. Ideally, you are already a fan of the site and have big ideas about how to take HowStuffWorks to the next level.

The Role You Will Have:

• Planning and executing social media strategies across our active social channels (Facebook, Twitter, Flipboard, Instagram etc), including the creation of a weekly social calendar and monthly social reports for our leadership team
• Data analysis of content published, including performance reports for each channel
• Collaboration with design to create unique and engaging content/graphics/videos
• Engaging with our audience to build brand awareness and maintain brand reputation
• Create compelling and intriguing newsletters with the support of the editorial team

What You Will Bring:

• Minimum 1-3 years experience in social media preferred, but not required
• B.A. in Communications, Journalism or Marketing is an asset, but not required
• Proven success in a social media role, either personally or professionally 
• Knowledge of a variety of social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook) & experience with newer / emerging social platforms
• Strong copywriting skills
• Strong communication, multitasking and analytical skills
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Passion for building social communities
• Self-motivated, clear communicator
