Pacific Fleet Aviation (PFA) is the flight branch within the EagleView group of entities, which uses fixed-wing piston aircraft to perform aerial surveying. The PFA fleet operates throughout the United States.
The Aviation Safety Program Coordinator will support Pilot Operations and Fleet Maintenance at PFA as an entry level aviation safety professional to coordinate the administration, analysis, and promotion of accident prevention activities of a 14 CFR Part 91 aerial survey operation. This position will report directly to the Director of Aviation Safety. Primary responsibilities are to assist with sustaining a centralized, independent, and integrated approach to accident prevention by producing policy, managing risk, assuring process performance, and conducting promotional activities to include safety training. The Aviation Safety Program Coordinator will be responsible for updating the safety dashboard, coordinating safety training, and compiling and analyzing safety data associated with aircraft maintenance and pilot operations through specialized software.

Primary Responsibilities

  • On a weekly basis, update the safety dashboard, by assessing different metrics and creating visual depictions of different data; such as the closure rate of safety actions and the status of Safety Performance Indicators. Post the dashboard to the appropriate briefing folders.
  • Serve as the safety team's expert on the web application software used for safety analytical functions, to include receiving initial and recurrent training to stay at the forefront of software capabilities.
  • Work closely with the different members of the organization to provide required software capabilities to fulfill risk management and safety assurance requirements.
  • Identify data streams and load quantitative and qualitative data into the safety web application software, then process the data into usable decision-quality information for use by leaders in risk management processes.
  • Research special interest topics in scientific journals and trade publications as requested by the Director of Aviation Safety.
  • Establish, adjust, and track Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) and how they meet preestablished targets as part of Safety Assurance requirements.
  • Provide data input and analysis as part of a comprehensive Risk Register.
  • Compile stakeholder input to update versions of the Safety Management Manual and Emergency Response Plan.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of simulated and real-world activation of the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Work closely with Safety Focals throughout the organization to track safety actions.
  • Participate in meetings of the Aviation Safety Board, Safety Action Groups, and Emergency Response Team; and attend regular meetings in the organization that require safety representation.
  • Work shifts as the "on-call" safety representative for time-sensitive safety issues, frequently being on-call after normal business hours.
  • Assist with safety investigations (interviews, data collection, evidence preservation).
  • Promote a voluntary reporting system that encourages employees to share hazards and errors in a fashion that encourages a Just and Fair Culture.
  • Prepare and issue routine (not time sensitive) and urgent (time-sensitive) safety messages, to include severe weather warnings and notifications of injury and damage events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Aviation Safety or Chief Operating Officer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Human Factors, Risk Management, Aviation Maintenance, Aeronautics (with a safety focus), or a related field.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: aviation maintenance, light aircraft piloting, or occupational safety.
  • Basic understanding of the ICAO, FAA, or EASA Safety Management System (SMS) organizing framework.
  • Basic understanding of the OSHA requirements for work settings, such as hazardous material management, spill management, and emergency equipment.
  • Ability to quickly learn best practices in aviation maintenance safety, such as use of personal protective equipment, tool control, foreign object debris management, and error producing conditions.
  • Ability to travel to work locations at airports spaced throughout the United States of America.
  • Ability to pass drug screening test.
  • Ability and willingness to occasionally perform safety observations of pilots by flying in cockpits (for candidates with a piloting background) and/or of aircraft maintenance work in hangars (for candidates with a maintenance background).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting safety and human factors information, to include teaching safety modules during initial training and recurrent training to pilots and Aviation Maintenance Technicians.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
  • Ability to be a lead by example and by exemplifying safe workplace practices, such as wearing Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Ability and willingness to respectfully assert safety requirements.
  • Ability to use computers and associated software programs, such as MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
