The Chief Pilot will serve as a key member of the Pilot Operations team and will report directly to the Director of Pilot Operations. The incumbent will have as his/her core responsibility the training and management of a team of aerial survey pilots. The successful candidate will promote the safe operation of a fleet of fixed-wing aerial survey aircraft while driving performance efficiency. The Chief Pilot will ensure compliance with the FARs, the standards applicable to Part 91 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the Flight Operations Manual, and any written conditions imposed on the company on the behalf of the FAA.
The role will be responsible for scheduling and coordinating all team activities including on-boarding, re-currency training, and continuing education seminars that promote safety and operational excellence.
The Chief Pilot will work directly with the Fleet Maintenance team and other Pilot Operations staff to optimize up-time and improve flight efficiencies. The Chief Pilot will also work closely with the Director of Aviation Safety and the Aviation Safety Program Coordinator to address safety concerns.
Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the lead trainer/performance evaluator for all line pilots
  • Promote a culture of safety by actively using and promoting the use of the VOCUS safety web application
  • Train pilots on camera system usage and troubleshooting
  • Coordinate with operations staff to develop and implement a new-hire training program
  • Provide pilot resourcing (rostering, flying, deployment, leave-scheduling)
  • Coordinate with EagleView staff to determine daily flight missions for line pilots
  • Provide support to the Operations Manager and other internal staff in all planning, operational, and safety matters
  • Develop, implement, and maintain company policies, operational standards, and safety procedures 
  • Maintain Pilot Training documentation
  • Maintain records of licenses, ratings, and qualifications of all crew members
  • Supervise and coordinate proficiency checks of crew members
  • Track, evaluate and manage KPIs for the Pilot Operations team
  • Travel up to 30% of the time (domestic). 
  • Other duties as assigned

 

  • Must hold a current CPL
  • Must hold current CFI, CFII and MEI certificate/ratings
  • Must hold a current Class 1 Medical
  • 800 hours PIC
  • 1000 hours TT
  • 50 hours ME (PIC)
  • Must be familiar with Part 91 operating guidelines
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check

  • Proven ability to manage relationships and drive results
  • Strong leadership and/or management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong technical and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt quickly
  • Well-organized, dependable, and self-sufficient

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous Lead/Chief Pilot experience
  • Preferred piston aircraft experience
  • 2000 hours TT or greater
  • 300 hours ME
  • Experience with aerial survey or photography flying
  • Experience flying Piper aircraft
  • Manual writing experience
  • Instructional background (optional)
