Director of Clinical Informatics

In order to advance our mission to – “Enable Personalized Care for Every Cancer Patient,” we are seeking candidates for the following role:

Job Summary:

Navigating Cancer is building a high-performing and experienced Clinical Informatics Team to support our clinical and research strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for developing Navigating Cancer’s clinical data model and helping us deliver best-in-class clinical software applications and data products to our customer base. As a clinical expert and ontologist, your job will be to ensure we can get clean and accurate information out of our data sets and that consumers of the data understand how to use it.

Responsibilities:  

  • Develop and oversee Navigating Cancer’s data and knowledge models to properly contain our data assets
  • Serve as the clinical informatics expert liaison to Product, Engineering, and Data Science, providing guidance on appropriate data modeling and knowledge representation for clinical concepts
  • Work with internal data source owners to ensure that we obtain and represent data at the right level to support various use cases
  • Work in tandem with our Data Analytics and Interoperability teams to curate and harmonize clinical data
  • Normalize internal vocabularies to standard terminologies and classifications
  • Develop and maintain standard policies and procedures for clinical informatics team
  • Identify and evaluate clinical content, technology and other solutions necessary to optimize clinical informatics function and business strategy
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to clinical terminologist(s)

Requirements:

  • Advanced Clinical Degree (required)
  • Masters/Certificate in Health or Biomedical Informatics (preferred)
  • 5+ years of relevant clinical informatics experience
  • Experience with interoperability standards, like FHIR, HL7
  • Experience with data modeling, mapping to standard medical terminologies and classifications (SNOMED CT, ICD-10-CM, LOINC, RxNorm)
  • Extraordinary communication skills and ability work in cross-functional environment, to translate clinical concepts to technical teams and vice versa
  • Ability to do some basic database querying (SQL, Python)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in agile and fast paced environment

Bonus Points:

  • Oncology-specific clinical experience
  • Deep understanding of oncology-specific terminologies and standards

This position is full time 100% remote with the option to come into the Seattle corporate office on a voluntary basis for local employees.

Base pay range:

$140,000 - $170,000/yr
