Heptio is thinking about impact on a magnitude and time horizon that’s different from your typical start-up. That starts with our founders … two of the individuals that created Google Compute Engine, Kubernetes and the Cloud Native Computing Foundation. We understand how to build things that endure. And we’ve started that at Heptio with a line-up of products, community projects and high-touch services that have an immediate impact.

Our message is resonating in the market. It has allowed us to count some of the most admired companies -- across industries -- as early customers. And, it has attracted incredible talent as we build our team. We’re growing fast and we need more great people. With that, Heptio is seeking a Director of Education to build and run a training program that will help Kubernetes developers and operators understand the technology and be an important part of making this amazing tech even more accessible.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING…

  • Partner across the organization to design the best-in-class training program to solve customer needs
  • Hire and mentor a team of trainers who will work with customers to deliver the best technical training
  • Think strategically about training and continue to improve on the business model and training curriculum that can scale in a big way
  • Spend time with users and the community to develop a deep understanding of Kubernetes, identifying challenges developers and operators encounter when building and running clusters
  • You will also be responsible for setting and delivering against the P&L targets including ensuring Heptio has the capacity to deliver against revenue targets and managing and maximizing instructor utilization
  • Deliver training content to both public and private training environments
  • Own the key business metrics of our training organization

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS…

  • Previous experience assessing, developing, and delivering technical training material to technical audiences
  • You are technical and comfortable with basic coding exercises
  • Experience Managing an Education P&L and effectively manage Cost, Revenue and Margin
  • Proven experience managing, mentoring and developing highly dynamic teams
  • You are thoughtful about user experience, especially from the perspective of engineers

This role has a required travel amount of at least 50%. About Heptio Heptio powers giant leaps in development productivity and resource efficiency. We provide the products, services and community projects that customers need to unlock the full potential of upstream Kubernetes. It’s all neatly packaged in the Heptio Kubernetes Subscription, the essentials needed to deploy, manage and support an open source Kubernetes distribution across multiple clouds. Important: we are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We’re strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunity for all employees and all applicants for employment. We want to embody the change we need in our industry.
