About the Position 

As a Director of Operational Controls, you will be responsible for understanding and assessing Assurance's business operations regarding Operational Risk, identifying issues and opportunities, and collaborating with all employees who serve as the first line of defense on the implementation/challenge of appropriate solutions.

About You

You will be the Day-to-day subject matter expert for risk practices at Assurance, working closely with functional teams across the firm and our parent company, Prudential Financial (NYSE: PRU), to effectively challenge the business proactively as the first line of defense and guard that Assurance operates within our policies and procedures. You will also assist in the identification of operational risks and development of processes and controls to help mitigate risks with a primary focus on Privacy, Information Security, Complaint Handling, Business Continuity, Vendor Management, Records Management, Sales Practices, and Fraud. You like to challenge and monitor the implementation of corporate, local, and applicable regulatory policies, procedures and controls. From an operational point of view, you will be responsible for understanding and assessing Assurance's business operations regarding Operational Risk, identifying issues and opportunities, and, collaborating with all employees who serve as the first line of defense on the implementation/challenge of appropriate solutions. You will seek to leverage the innovative culture at Assurance to identify better ways to monitor risks and implement controls. You will create, communicate, and reinforce a control conscience culture, demonstrating risk-smart decision making and the need for compliance while continuing to improve the customer experience.

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following:

  • Expertise in process improvement and risk and control assessments
  • Able to build a network of trusted relationships with key stakeholders from the business as well as within Prudential's risk management teams
  • Be a strong communicator to enable positive impact and contribute to creating a learning organization
  • Knowledge of technology systems is a plus
  • Experience with Privacy, Information Security, Complaint Handling, Business Continuity, Vendor Management, Records Management, Sales Practices, and / or Fraud risk management.
  • Demonstrate effective collaboration and teamwork skills to support peers and team members.
  • Able to build relationships at all levels, cultivating a broad network of contacts.
  • Have communication and presentation skills that allow one to express their ideas with impact and in a compelling, simple, and credible manner.
  • Being innovative and being able to drive change to simplify and strengthen policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Being self-confident / self-empowered.
  • Demonstrate problem analysis & judgment skills.
