The Director, Operational Excellence will be responsible for leading the operational excellence initiatives through effective leadership and working relationships with business leaders, functional change agents, and all applicable functional department personnel. The position will be aligned under the FLEXE Commercial organization to develop capabilities supporting the strategic vision of FLEXE and the Customer whose operations FLEXE is managing in a 4PL environment. These solutions include continuous improvement and optimization of the customer’s distribution operation including but not limited to inventory, facility layout, order management, warehouse, material flow, systems management, etc.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic plans and/or growth strategies in the supply chain for strategic accounts.
  • Staffing and developing talent for regional operations excellence managers.
  • Utilize performance management problem solving and lean/sigma tools as well as training, coaching, and influence skills to achieve specific organizational change and financial objectives for strategic accounts.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, execute against those opportunities and successfully realize quantifiable benefits.
  • Develop & maintain strong positive business relationships with key internal clients to clearly understand their business processes and the development/articulation of short & long term business objectives.
  • Define the business case for the projects that have been proposed and validate the opportunity scope and importance of a project. Ensure identified projects align with business goals and that highest priority projects are worked on first.
  • Build, mobilize, and lead cross departmental project teams to meet the project objectives within the given time frame and within budget.
  • Update and maintain the status of projects in the project database. Establish key measures of success for projects and implement tracking plans.
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops to solve urgent business needs. Use Lean methodologies to understand current processes, identify impacts to current processes of proposed defect fixes or system enhancements, and work with the various stakeholders to propose and develop process and/or technology modifications.
  • Gather, collect, organize, prioritize, conduct statistical analysis, and present data concerning business and/or project opportunities.

Required skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 10 year of professional experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel to analyze and summarize data, including graphs, charts, formulas and functions
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Up to 25% travel may be required (domestic)

Preferred skills and experience:

  • Experience in the following tools is a plus:
  • Data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • PrIME/ RTCIS Power User is preferred
  • Knowledge of lean processes and tools
  • Able to identify trends, patterns and outliers in supply chain data
  • Strong organization and task management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment while managing multiple projects/priorities simultaneously
  • Awareness of end to end supply chain functions and relationships
