Job Summary

Intentional Futures is poised to grow in impact and size, and we believe that the right general manager can be an instrumental part of that growth. You will serve as an essential senior leader charged with running company day-to-day operations (e.g., business development, client and project management, HR, finance, and strategic planning). This position reports to and works closely with CEO Michael Dix.

You'll manage our senior leaders as well as our operations team to help build this mission-driven organization. Culture is vitally important at iF, and the GM will be at the forefront of upholding and promoting our values of imagination, rigor, and teamwork. This role is an excellent opportunity for an operations maven with experience growing healthy companies and teams.

Responsibilities and Duties

Strategic Planning and Process

  • Work in partnership with the CEO and leadership team to create a strategic plan and implement new processes and approaches so we can achieve goals
  • Lead the annual budgeting process
  • Develop and validate metrics to evaluate progress against goals
  • Identify cross-practice improvements in a quest to optimize company efficiency

People Management

  • Lead, manage, and holds the leadership team accountable for achieving agreed-upon commitments
  • Integrate all major operating functions of the business. Model the way, always working for the greater good of the business
  • Handle day-to-day company operations, ensuring everyone is rowing in the same direction and providing a strong leadership presence
  • Evaluate and improve our process for winning and delivering work
  • Hire, lead, and develop the organization’s senior leaders to ensure they have the resources they need to win and deliver work
  • Work with people managers to establish and maintain performance practices and system
  • Establish clear diversity & inclusion metrics for recruitment and retention of staff, and establish accountabilities to see them through

Financial Oversight

  • Direct the financial health of the company including developing long and short-range financial plans, monitoring the budget and ensuring sound financial controls are in place
  • Set financial priorities to ensure the organization is operating in a manner that supports the needs of clients and staff
  • Partner with our CFO on the creation of monthly financial reporting and forecasting in support of transparency and continuous progress towards achievement of goals/priorities
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
  • Oversee audits and proper tax filing and remain up-to-date on consulting methodologies

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in business and/or operations, including a minimum of five years of senior operations management experience building and mentoring collaborative teams
  • A leader who can quickly assess situations/industries/needs/teams/etc. and is good in entrepreneurial environments as well as understanding/directing/consulting to large, bureaucratic organizations
  • Excellent people management skills: you believe deeply in the importance of developing talent with a track record of leading high-performing teams to achieve an ambitious result
  • Experience with running delivery projects and leading client and business development, delivery, and project teams who manage a variety of engagements
  • Comfort leading across a range of operational verticals (e.g., HR, finance, systems
  • Operational mindset; you have an unwavering belief that strong operations are critical and a conviction for driving operations efforts forward
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: you organize and interpret data, generate insights and reporting systems, and anticipate challenges and opportunities
  • Strategic thinker: you can develop long-range strategy efforts and operationalizing the strategy into tactical implementation
  • Strong emotional intelligence: you establish trust and buy in-from disparate groups
  • Comfort operating within ambiguity and working towards clarity
