Varsity Tutors is looking for a talented IT Analyst to join our team in Seattle! The IT Analyst is primarily focused on supporting any hardware or devices found within our offices which is not specifically associated with an employee. This includes designing, analyzing and implementing and monitoring information systems that optimize organizational efficiency. They also help to oversee our employee accounts which includes email, groups and Okta.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent of 4 years of work experience. Four years experience developing, and implementing networking projects and new technology installations.
  • Working knowledge of VoIP, QoS, SSO technologies, LAN/WAN, Firewalls, documentation and change management
  • Expertise with TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, familiarity with AWS VPC’s and networking / routing
  • Strong knowledge of Layer 2 network protocols and Layer 3 IP routing with reliable troubleshooting techniques
  • Prior experience with Fortigate products and CLI
  • Learn quickly, think on their feet and adapt to changing workloads and priorities
  • Be available to work an assigned schedule that may include weekend shift, evenings, holidays, some overtime and occasional on call
  • Has developed specialized skills through job-related training and on-the-job experience
  • Position requires autonomy with some direction
  • A minimum of forty hours per week, plus other hours as may be necessary to complete job duties. A combination of day, evening, and weekend hours may be required for projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in implementing policies, procedures, and associated training for network resource administration, security best practices, appropriate use, and disaster recovery
  • Monitor and improve evolving WiFi infrastructure to maintain high quality network performance for all corporate locations and staff
  • Review and monitor existing IT systems and internal processes and recommend improvements; Collect and analyze metrics to identify areas for improvement within IT infrastructure and AWS infrastructure
  • Preparing backup systems to protect against outages due to disasters
  • Troubleshooting network problems and developing more of a proactive standpoint
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate reference documentation for network and office infrastructure policies and procedures
  • Gather feedback and data from end users and monitoring systems to help maintain system performance and network performance
  • Configures and deploys new and replacement office equipment and network equipment
  • Communicate with stakeholders to understand their needs, requirements, and IT objectives (gathering information)
  • Ability to simplify and explain technical information to others
  • Help to design, develop and analyze functional specifications to meet business and technology/infrastructure needs
  • Develop and plan installation procedures and events to minimize work disruption
  • Reviews firewall logs on a daily basis, assesses possible threats or issues and takes necessary action
  • Ability to prioritize with multiple needs of different departments
  • Sends equipment requests/needs to the IT Manager for purchase
  • Schedules and performs network maintenance tasks
  • Provides regular updates to Manager during service degradations, outages or other issues that impact the work of other teams
  • Coordinates and directs work assignments during outages and other emergencies
  • Setup and maintain user accounts, group assignments, and SSO configuration and mapping for corporate users.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work queue with incoming requests from multiple departments; communicate progress at regular intervals
  • Help setup printers access for users, and configure their systems, and teach user’s about our corp printer usage
  • Help, support, and mentor junior IT staff; Provides peer to peer guidance
  • Participate in team meetings; provide input on intelligent solutions to improve efficiency
  • Answer non-technical policy related questions, or direct inquiries to the right team for resolution. May serve as an escalation point if a manager is not available
  • Is not afraid to engage senior reps or managers when the request pattern points to bigger issues or if an issue isn’t getting the attention it deserves
  • Troubleshoots and resolves network and office server issues; engages outside vendors as needed
