About the Role:
The IT Systems Administrator provides maintenance of the computer desktop environment by supporting end users, identifying and resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions, and supporting the internal IT Helpdesk function. The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining all Corporate infrastructure including, but not limited to: Active Directory services, Domain Controllers, DNS, DHCP, IP management, firewalls, remote access, email, file storage, network management and performance, VLANs, wireless, phone system, hosted services, and infrastructure security.

Other duties include administration and internal support of PCs, printers, servers, and related equipment. Tasks include end user support, software license tracking, inventory management, and performing PC maintenance, upgrades and configurations, and project management. As part of this growing company, you will be a key participant in creating and improving processes throughout all IT functions.

 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Implement, upgrade, maintain, and monitor all areas of corporate IT infrastructure
  • Implement systems and improve processes using IT best practices
  • Identify and apply technical, process, and security best practices
  • Maintain backups, offsite data storage, and disaster recovery planning
  • Manage technical projects and act in technical leadership role
  • Provide helpdesk support and resolve problems to the end user’s satisfaction
  • Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT helpdesk
  • Monitor Service Desk for tickets assigned to the queue and process first-in first-out based on priority, including escalation of issues as needed
  • Modify configurations, utilities, software default settings, etc. for the local workstation
  • Utilize and maintain the helpdesk tracking software
  • Document internal procedures, including writing and maintaining process and procedure manuals
  • Assist with onboarding of new users, including training as necessary
  • Ensure each workstation has a computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive, and any additional specialized equipment
  • Install, test and configure new workstations, peripheral equipment and software
  • Maintain inventory of all equipment, software and software licenses, including identifying equipment shortages and placing new orders
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and minor repairs, and maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and a maintenance schedule
  • Manage PC setup and deployment for new employees using standard hardware, images and software
  • Assign users and computers to proper groups in Active Directory (AD) and maintain AD groups as may be necessary
  • Perform timely workstation hardware and software upgrades as required and without deterring others from completing their work
  • Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors
  • Exercise judgement within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Acts as adviser to subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems
  • Ensures schedules, projects, and performance requirements are met
  • This role requires periodic off-hour and on-call availability

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Microsoft, Cisco certifications and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • AWS, VMware certification and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • Technical certifications in a variety of infrastructure including but not limited to AD services, Exchange/Office 365, firewalls, networking, and hardware management
  • Security related certifications or experience preferred
  • ITIL or other process certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively increasing responsibility in similar Systems Administrator or consulting role
  • Experience in large-scale technology implementations identifying resources required, timeline, implementation, post-implementation, and on-going support activities
  • Security and process management audit experience
  • Expert knowledge in Active Directory, Exchange/Office 365, DNS, DHCP, and Microsoft products
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills with server, network management, and network infrastructure systems
  • Working knowledge of firewalls, security, anti-virus, intrusion detection, and other security related systems
  • Advanced skills in disaster planning, backup, and cloud services
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with little direction meeting deadlines
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in a dynamic environment
