Position Summary:

Trupanion is seeking an Office Pet Program Manager. With continued growth in the company comes the continued growth of our office pet program. If you are a confident and self-motivated professional with expertise in dog and cat petiquette, then this position could be for you! Relevant experience may include experience working inside a veterinary practice, dog daycare, or as a trainer on pet behavior. This role must be pet passionate and skilled at working with both pets and their people. We are looking for a pet whisperer who has the background and communication skills to generate confidence, add value, and keep our 300+ office dogs and cats healthy and happy.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop Pet Program guidelines and processes that support a safe and happy office for Trupanion pets and their people
  • Expertly communicate to team member pet parents, leadership, and the broader Trupanion team to drive Pet Program awareness and ensure guidelines are followed
  • Conduct behavioral assessments to ensure new and existing pets are appropriate for working in an office environment and acclimate effectively
  • Educate team members about our office petiquette, develop and lead training sessions for team members and their pets, provide one on one advice and coaching to individual pet parents when needed
  • Respond to any in-office pet incidents, consulting with pet parents on animal behavior, and making timely decisions to resolve
  • Use data and reporting to understand Pet Program effectiveness and make adjustments when needed, communicate program status and success to leadership
  • Lead a team of Office Dog Walkers, inspiring and coaching them for success, tracking team performance and capacity to ensure the team is staffed to meet or exceed program expectations
  • Represent Trupanion externally as an Office Pet Program expert, providing guidance and support to other companies wishing to establish their own programs through consultation, as well as organizing and coordinating periodic networking meetings.

Education, Registration & Certification:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
  • Animal behaviorist and/or training certification required
  • Animal behavior degree preferred
  • Additional animal first aid or medical certifications highly preferred

Experience:

  • Prior experience working with pets in a professional setting such as a veterinary clinic, dog daycare, or animal training facility
  • Prior experience developing and leading pet-focused training
  • Prior experience developing and managing programs, including setting goals and measuring success
  • 3+ years serving internal or external customers
  • 2+ years leading teams, including scheduling, staffing, and coaching responsibilities

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Pet passionate
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal direction to achieve objectives
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Forms
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, both verbally and in writing
  • A problem-solver able to handle ambiguity, identify areas of opportunity and be an active solution seeker.
  • Conflict resolution skills to resolve any incidents in a diplomatic manner
  • Strong animal behavior knowledge, able to identify behavior concerns and provide immediate feedback and resolution
