Operations of modern complex systems is a challenging task that requires an incredibly diverse set of experiences, skills, and talents. Position will be located in Seattle, WA.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership of our Operations team; developing goals, organizing resources, and directing execution
  • Collaborate with and support teams across Chef
  • Provide leadership and standards around the organizational use of Cloud and Data Center Infrastructure
  • Develop and implement operational standards that reach across the organization regarding architecture, operational practices, and industry standards
  • Explore and evaluate new technologies and methodologies
  • Coach and develop members of the Operations team
  • Identify and utilize operational data to monitor and manage data driven decisions around our services
  • Leading incident response procedures and directing problem resolution processes
  • Governing risk and compliance of our operations
  • Communicating with internal and external partners and customers

Who You Are:

  • Collaborative and enjoys working with others
  • Customer focused, able to balance value creation and efficiency
  • Able to coach others to bring the best of out each team member
  • Strong organization & project management skills, but unflustered by operational interrupts
  • Eager to adopt and create new technologies and methodologies
  • Experienced with large-scale systems administration, configuration management and automation (Chef!) concepts
  • Experienced with modern programming languages such as Ruby, Node.js and Go
  • Experienced with cloud environments, especially AWS. Azure and GCP a bonus
  • Experienced with a variety of compute environments, including data center, virtualized, cloud, and containerized, especially Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experienced with Networking (Arista/Cisco), Databases (PostgreSQL), Security/Risk Analysis and Performance Analysis desired but not required
  • Has a foundational understanding of Operational theory and industry standards, including LEAN, ITIL, COBIT, NIST Standard, etc.
