About the Team:

VIZIO is looking for a Senior DevOps Manager to manage and lead a growing team of DevOps engineers in keeping our cloud-based services running reliably. Your mind works in such a way that you think through all the scenarios in which our system is vulnerable and then drive requirements to address those issues. You lead by example and don't mind rolling up your sleeves and working side-by-side with your team members. You have a proven history of being responsible and reliable with your areas of ownership and take immense pride in your work.


 About You:

  • Experience managing a DevOps team
  • BA, BS, or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience in software engineering
  • Ability to script simple solutions using batch files, javascript, etc.
  • Experience with strongly-typed languages (C#, C, C++, Java, etc) as well as scripting languages such as Javascript.
  • Familiarity with analytics and monitoring systems
  • Experience working in an agile, Scrum environment
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a people manger, managing direct reports with technical skills such as software engineers.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, including ability to deliver detailed status reports to executive team.
  • Experience working in a high traffic, high reliability environment
  • Knowledge of web-based applications and microservices
  • Working knowledge of complex web hosting configuration components, including DNS, firewalls, load balancers, CDNs, web and database servers.
  • Strong experience in cloud environment, AWS preferred.
     

What You Will Do:

  • Manage a team of 3-5 engineers as well as our external Network Operation Center team.
  • Build and maintain our hybrid environment consisting of an on-prem datacenter and large AWS cloud presence.
  • Take ownership of the overall health and performance of our platform and services with the goal of 99.999% uptime.
  • Perform site-reliability engineering (SRE), proactive maintenance, and manage resources to provide resiliency and scalability.
  • Establish the necessary telemetry, monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and on-call rotations utilizing our external NOC and internal team members.
  • Automate our infrastructure, including auto-scaling, virtual machine instances, containerization, CI/CD, release management, and branch management.
  • Maintain our Product Team's network and security between the cloud, datacenter, and office.
  • Perform architectural reviews with software engineers to make risk assessments and provide input to make our services more reliable, scalable, and cost-effective.
  • Manage the budget of our Datacenter and AWS environment, forecasting our expenses and keeping us under budget.
  • Ensure that we are adhering to industry best practices as it relates to security, privacy, and disaster recovery.
