Job Description

As a PayScale Systems Administrator, your job is quite simple: make all things PayScale IT awesome. This role has the freedom to practice your craft among some very sharp and motivated people. Your goal, if you choose to accept it, is to keep PayScale team members working through literal and figurative technical fires. You'll be part of a team supporting all the IT hardware and software including servers, email, solving issues with VPN, Internet, Windows and more. The position will work on building and supporting a hybrid cloud-based infrastructure, build creative IT solutions to new business challenges, and build platforms to run and evangelize PayScale’s cool and useful products.

Responsibilites:

  • Design, configure, document and maintain network infrastructure
  • Be the critical person to trouble network and server related issues
  • Monitoring system performance, tuning and log analysis
  • Perform system updates, upgrades, backups, and recovery processes
  • Run Cisco IP Phone infrastructure
  • Handle Windows Servers in an Active Directory environment
  • Apply administration standard methodologies
  • Develop short and long-term infrastructure plans to support PayScale’s growth
  • Responsible for ISP, network and server infrastructure deployment and maintenance.
  • Investigate new technologies and research viability within PayScale’s infrastructure.
  • Support and configure two Linux based products in on-prem and cloud environments; including these technologies, LAMP, Ansible, Jenkins, GlusterFS, and node.js.
  • Lead AWS technologies used for PayScale’s solutions.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures and systems documentation.
  • Mentoring and training help desk staff.
  • Highly functional project coordinator, you will be leading a lot of projects simultaneously that have significant impact to the organization.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • 2-5+ years of progressive technical experience in a startup setting
  • In-depth understanding of routing and network protocols, including the OSI model
  • Strong network troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Syslog/SNMP configuration, maintenance and security logging.
  • Solid knowledge with Cisco VPN technology and troubleshooting
  • Experience with Cisco Telephony Systems: Call Manager, Unity.
  • Demonstrable experience documenting IT processes and procedures and project management
  • Solid grasp of Active Directory, DHCP, TCP/IP and DNS
  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Windows 10, Server 2012/2016, Office365, SQL 2014, IIS
  • Cisco and MCSE certifications a plus
  • Linux administration, Redhat, Centos, Ubuntu
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and great teammate
  • Experience with the following languages is preferred but not required. Python PowerShell, Batch, Bash
  • SSO knowledge/experience
  • Ability to receive and handle a wide variety of tasks with opposing priorities.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to creatively solve highly technical issues and communicate changes to non-technical staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience with AWS/Azure
