Blue Nile is looking for a passionate and talented Systems Engineer II Contractor who will join our Web operations team and be responsible for administration and deployment of large-scale Linux systems within a complex and redundant architecture including web servers, application servers, monitoring tools and Oracle database systems.

Blue Nile is looking for a self-driven Systems Engineer II Contractor with broad technical experience who will join our IT Operations team. IT Operations at Blue Nile is the core team responsible for the engineering, delivery, administration, and operational ownership of a wide variety of technical capabilities to support our employees. As a team member on IT Operations, you will play a key role in our team’s success. The team is agile and fast paced, working across multiple deliveries in helping grow our business and support our customers in reaching their goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Use Jira, Confluence, MS Teams, SharePoint, in support of work tracking and documentation
  • Create and maintain operational automation to reduce manual effort
  • Implement and adjust monitoring to support trend and alert data across network, server, and end user equipment
  • Manage application and system upgrades and security patching
  • Work in a diverse environment with SaaS, Cloud, and On Premise technologies
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, operating system, network, and application issues and escalations
  • Support customers and teams across the company to resolve engagements and escalations
  • Create and manage documentation related to existing and implemented technologies and processes
  • Work directly with vendors and partners in collaboration and coordination of deliverables
  • Create and manage communications to customers at all levels
  • Attend and participate in key team and customer meetings to support initiatives and work as appropriate
  • Take lead on initiatives as assigned and own the delivery working collaboratively with team members and customers
  • Create and maintain work log and progress with details and date/time deliveries
  • Work across our application and server environments, network, offices, and showrooms supporting technologies existing and implemented
  • Participate in an 24/7 on call rotation to receive, own, and resolve escalations from customers and monitoring

Qualifications

  • College degree preferred
  • 5+ Systems Administration across Windows, Linux, Server and Windows/MAC Desktop/Laptop machines
  • Experience working with O365, Exchange, Active Directory, and Azure AD
  • Experience in operational automation (PowerShell, Python, Ansible, Bash, or similar)
  • Experience in managing the upgrading and patching of systems and applications
  • Experience with Apple Profile Manager, JAMF, Intune, and SCCM to support Windows and MAC Clients
  • Experience with network technologies and configurations (Router, Firewall, VPN, Meraki)
  • Experience with disaster recovery processes, backup, and recovery
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot and work to resolve technical issues
  • Experience working with and supporting tools on premise and SaaS
  • Experience implementing and maintaining monitoring using Zabbix (or similar)
  • Ability to clearly document system related or customer facing related content
  • Ability to work independently and results driven
  • Ability and strong desire to learn and deliver new technologies and processes
  • Can work with ambiguity and challenges, as well as operate in a fast paced agile environment
  • Solid verbal and written skills to support interactions with customers at all levels
  • Basic Oracle DBA and SQL related experience desired
  • Familiarity with Conference Room Technologies such as Zoom Room and MS Teams
