Position information

The Vice President, Technology Operations will lead the transition of Apptio’s Flagship product to a fully cloud based platform. You will be responsible for providing direction and leadership for automation, scalability, security, and self-service capabilities for Apptio cloud organization. You will have experience with scaling and come from a site reliability background, in addition having a strong engineering and architectural background. If you have successfully built large scale, high volume platforms, and can effectively work in partnership with product engineering leadership to provide best-in-breed infrastructure, this role is for you!

The position reports to the Executive VP of Products & Engineering. You will be a member of the Apptio Operational Leadership team and a key participant in setting and evolving Apptio’s company level strategy.

Responsibilities and requirements

• Lead a global team of experienced Technology, Systems Engineering, IT, Networking and DevOps professionals; recruit and develop extraordinary product management talent
• Set the vision and strategy for infrastructure operations
• Build culture necessary to deliver reliability and scalability in the cloud throughout our product line
• Drive positive outcomes for customers and our business and ensure continuous availability of our applications
• Support engineering and operations in AWS at scale (for example: intra-VPC access control, tagging, planning/tracking spending …)
• Lead migration of existing infrastructure services from physical data centers to the cloud
• Responsible for production workloads and operational aspects

About you

• A minimum of 8 years’ experience leading engineering teams, including demonstrated success leading geographically dispersed engineering teams
• Extensive experience delivering SRE or infrastructure of commercial, multi-tenant, SaaS products at scale with high availability targets, including being hands on with technology and experience shipping commercial software at scale as both an engineer and a leader.
• Experience leading cloud architecture and engineering supported in the cloud via AWS, Azure, Google or similar
• Experience leading continuous integration/continuous deployment systems (CI/CD)

• Graduate degree a plus, preferably MS in CS and/or an MBA.
