The data organization is responsible for the technology stack that enables our customers to get their data ready for analysis, store and later query this data at scale. We are looking for an experienced product manager who would like to be part of our mission.

 

As a Product Manager Director in the Data team, you’ll be responsible for advancing Tableau’s strategy for its data platform. This state-of-the-art data pipeline is the foundation for the Tableau product ecosystem, allowing people to securely access and federate data to enable analysis, data management, and preparation. Whether on-premise or in the cloud, the data pipeline is central to our core mission: to help people see and understand data.  You will work closely with the engineering team to bring new capabilities to market. You will work closely with customers and partners to understand their use cases and find creative solutions to make them successful. We have a great culture with a focus on self-improvement, collaboration and working to reach our potential as a high performing team. 

 

This role will lead a highly visible and highly strategic cross-group effort around advanced performance initiatives. You will be responsible for defining the vision, strategy, and phased execution plan for these initiatives. You will partner closely with senior technical and business leaders across the company to define a compelling v1 offering and subsequently lead the team during execution. This roles requires a mix of strong technical, business, and interpersonal acumen.

 

 

 

Some of the things you’ll be doing include …

  • Help define the product strategy and roadmap for how to accelerate performance of large datasets that require complex analysis

  • Deliver vision and requirement documents with prioritized features and corresponding justification.

  • Extensive work with engineering teams to scope, prioritize and drive feature specifications.

  • Present Tableau product capabilities, vision, value propositions, and roadmap briefings to customers, prospects, the Tableau sales team, and at public events.

  • Collaborate with strategic customers as a Tableau trusted advisor to ensure their success, manage escalations, requirements analysis and product planning activities.

  • Collaborate with product marketing on positioning, messaging, and go-to-market strategies.

  • Build strong partnerships across Tableau to identify opportunities to improve our products 

  • Ensure the rest of the company has visibility into product plans and execution 

  • Champion our culture and values. 

 

 

Who you are…

·  Experienced. You have 10+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on high scale, high performance systems and optimization techniques, service API’s, and distributed systems.

· Technical. You possess a strong ability to grasp and translate customer needs into technical database capabilities and different types of database systems. You have knowledge of the database landscape and a strong understanding of how to translate this to solving real-world customer problems

·  Customer-focused. You can go deep into technology and relate customer use cases to technical enhancements. You love speaking with customers and learning more about their product needs.

·  Evangelist. You are an evangelist and will be tasked with presenting your priorities to internal and external parties.

·  Strong Communicator. You have an innate ability to communicate both business and technical topics to diverse audiences.

·  Self-starter. You are intrinsically motivated and gifted at driving projects from start to finish.

·  Data Enthusiast. You have a strong desire to help people see and understand data. You believe in Tableau’s mission and are excited to play a part in it.

·  Educated. You possess a BS or MS degree in Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
