About the Role

The Director of Product Management will be an outstanding product leader with a track record of successfully leading a large product group or product area in a business. This includes strategy, planning, and execution, as well as recruiting, motivating, and inspiring top product talent. You will provide direction and put the necessary people and processes in place to ensure sound decisions are made, and collaborate very closely with the Head of Product. You’ll work with a highly skilled and motivated crew of technical and product-focused individuals, intent on delivering the best experience possible for our clients. Your efforts and expertise will frame and solve some of the most challenging problems within B2B payments.

The ideal candidate will have experience building complex technology solutions to create amazing customer and business outcomes, as well as a track record of scaling high performing product teams in a fast-paced, distributed environment. Essential to the success of this person is an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for delivering innovative products in a remote and distributed team environment. This person will be an essential partner for growing and scaling Routable, and will be critical for us in building the future that we think can be made.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a distributed, diverse product team
  • Set strategy, create clarity, and provide guidance on priorities with multiple different time horizons
  • Ensure amazing execution and customer/commercial outcomes for your teams and responsibilities
  • Drive not just product delivery but also successful commercialization of all products
  • Serve as a player/coach when necessary, and collaborate across product teams
  • Start with a small team and help us grow and build, laying the infrastructure and expectations for future expansion
  • Oversee the development, implementation and execution of multiple projects, ensuring scope and schedule are established for projects; oversee operating plan and resource allocation for the department, including prioritization and staff deployment; acts based on changed priorities
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, DevOps and DevEx to ship next-generation products and increase cohesion between teams
  • Determine OKRs, project planning, timelines, and resource requirements to accomplish projects and support users
  • Create and implement process and organizational improvements which enhance overall effectiveness; proactively seek ways to improve people and management processes
  • Manage, inspire, and improve morale, retention, culture, and performance
  • Provide career development, coaching, mentorship and sponsorship, and cultivate emerging leaders

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to lead and develop product teams; has a track record of success working with Product, Engineering, Design, and Leadership teams to push development forward
  • Ability to be an inspirational leader for our customers, our product development teams, and the rest of the company as a whole
  • Ability to be a public-facing subject matter expert on relevant topics
  • Excellent communicator, for both internal and external audiences
  • Excellent manager, and manager of managers, with the ability to mentor and grow senior product managers and product leads
  • Excellent collaborator with a history of leaving organizations in a better spot through improved processes, structure, and track records
  • 10+ years of combined product management experience; ideally starting as an individual contributor, then transitioning to senior management roles
  • Experience scaling product teams at a fast-growing startup
  • Experience fostering an environment of innovation and promoting product management best practices across teams
  • Ability to engage on strategic discussions and determine tradeoffs and drive discussion towards decisions
  • Passion about your profession, curiosity, and can inspire creativity and excellence in our product and with our customers
  • Strong sense of personal and team accountability, customer dedication, and integrity demonstrated through reliable execution, customer relationships, successful commercialization, and broad product development improvements
  • Understand the value of, and have a track record for, producing timely results and executing rapidly and cleanly, without chaos.
  • Enjoy creating focus, order, and stability in a dynamic environment

Location

You must be currently authorized to work in the United States or Canada on a full-time basis.

The Director of Product Management reports directly to the Head of Product.

Rendezvous

To help foster amazing relationships with our coworkers, we meet up twice a year as a whole team in some pretty awesome cities! In the past we’ve met up in San Diego, Seattle, and Austin. We’d rather invest money into memorable team events rather than expensive offices. During our meet-up team time, we love to spend time learning a new skill together, and solving problems. Most recently this has taken on the form of a bread-making class and defeating an Escape Room.

Note: we have paused our meetups due to COVID-19 and will resume when it is safe for everyone to attend
