Code.org® is a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science in schools and increasing participation by young women and students from other underrepresented groups. JOB SUMMARY


Code.org is looking for a Director of Product Management who is passionate about building world class user experiences and products that deliver the most popular K-12 Computer Science curriculum to students around the world! In this role you will drive a suite of products used by students, teachers, partner organizations, curriculum writers, and administrators all in service of teaching students Computer Science. This suite includes our teacher dashboard, our student programming tools (e.g. App Lab, Game Lab, Sprite Lab), Hour of Code activities, curriculum building tools, teacher and administrator tools, and much more. You will be leading a team of dedicated Product Managers and partnering closely with the engineering, design, data, support, curriculum, and marketing teams.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL

  • Contribute to and adopt the organization’s strategy, cross-team priorities, and goals
  • Deeply understand the landscape and market for Computer Science education products
  • Deeply understand student and teacher needs, use cases, and behaviors
  • Use this knowledge to help evolve the organization’s product vision, strategy, goals, and metrics
  • Use this knowledge to create a product roadmap that aligns with the product vision and strategy, and the organizational priorities and goals
  • Build user experiences that delight, and inspire creativity in students and teachers
  • Lead the product management team in carrying out the product roadmap towards organizational and product goals with an accountable and learning mindset
  • Coach and support the career growth of a team of Product Managers
  • Cultivate an inclusive team culture that champions collaboration, coordination, and execution
  • Coordinate and ensure alignment with engineering, design, data, support, curriculum, and other teams
  • Continuously improve team processes and execution of the roadmap
  • As part of the leadership team, influence organizational culture, operational processes, and decisions
  • Connect with external organizations and find opportunities for beneficial partnerships

We seek candidates who have:

  • At least 5+ years of experience managing a team of product managers
  • At least 8 years of experience product managing online consumer products 
  • Experience designing user experiences for non-tech savvy consumers
  • Experience using data to make decisions
  • Taken computer science courses or have experience with programming
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong technical background
  • Experience building and maintaining partnerships with other teams/organizations

We prefer candidates who also have:

  • Teaching or volunteering experience in K-12 classrooms
  • Experience using programming tools designed for students
  • Experience building programs or products for underrepresented communities

In addition, candidates:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check

WHAT IS THE INTERVIEW PROCESS LIKE?


Step 1: Informational Interview - learn more about the role and share your experience (~30 minutes)

Step 2: Homework (~1-2 hours)

Step 3: Interviews with several members of the Code.org team (~4 hours)

Step 4: Final Interview + Meet & Greet with 2-3 members of the Code.org team (~1 hour)

Step 5: Reference Checks 


All interviews are conducted virtually via Google Meet
